Another price hike in WalMart

Are we talking ammo prices? Not housewares and stuff, right?

Since I was in Wal-Mart this weekend, I picked up two 9mm value packs (just because I was there).

$14.56 each + tax. It was not that long ago it seems they were $9.99.

Oh, and since this is a Wal-mart thread, The Chandler Store on Elliot no longer carries firearms. Gone. Per the guy behind the counter, no more firearms at any Wal-marts. Period. Done. Yes I know this has been discussed to death but hey, this is a Wal-mart thread.

I never bought a firearm from Wal-mart anyway, so no tears shed on that. However, their ammo is still the cheapest around. I hope they don't stop selling that.

"Per the guy behind the counter, no more firearms at any Wal-marts. Period. Done."

Any idea when this will be happening? My local stores still have a nice selection. One of them just hired a new sporting goods manager and expanded the firearms and hunting gear department.

I did not think to ask for a time-line for other stores. Actually, it has not been confirmed yet if this will be happening at every store. For every post I see that Wal-mart is no longer selling guns, there is another post stating they know of stores that will continue selling. Just like what happened here. That is why I stated "per the guy behind the counter".

Name something that hasn't gotten more expensive over the past couple years.

A few months ago we were paying over $3 per gallon of gas and we will be again come warmer weather.

They did it again since LAST WEEK!!!

Your thread would be a bit more useful if you would also post the price you saw along with your exclamations. 9mm WWB has been just under $15/100 for several weeks now. Did you see something different?

Yes, It's True

Their prices on ammo went up again.

Now they're only $4.00 cheaper per hundred 9mm than the nearest other pricing in town.

The NERVE, only saving me $4.00 on a hundred rounds!

I'm gonna boycott those bastiges! I'm gonna pay full retail for my 9mm!

That'll show those heartless capitalists!

In what was a weird change, my walmart had CCI Brass for 10.97/50, but wanted 15 for Remington... (.45 ACP).

Of course, the money lost in waiting for a person to open the cage and get it made it probably not worth it...

I'm still getting 9mm for 4.86/50 and 7.62x39 for 3.89/20 (they WERE 2.89 2 weeks ago) .. BOYCOTT WAL MART!!! GO TO ACADEMY

Academy?

Fine.

You get them to build one in my town, I'll be happy to go there.

Meantime, I be buyin' more ammo per dollar at W*M than pretty much anywhere else in town.

For what it's worth

At least once every month, I do a circuit of EVERY retailer of any description that sells guns within 30 miles of where I work.

I make it a point to buy something from each one.

Sometimes it's just cleaning supplies or target patches. Often, it's a box or two of ammo in one of the calibers I use.

Every so often it's a gun. (Happily, we have no "one gun a month" rules here, or I'd go broke.)

The best advocacy for RKBA is the existence of stores of all kinds that carry guns and shooting supplies. The more commonplace this is, the less strange the people buying that stuff seem to the casual observer.

We have a W*M in South Reno that no longer carries guns. There's a whole story behind how that happened, but what I, personally, will be doing is calling W*M corp and asking them why it is that a W*M store that's less than 5 miles from a shooting range no longer carries firearms. I will ask that they please fix this state of affairs, because I find it inconvenient to drive the extra 12 miles to buy from the nearest W*M in Reno that still does carry guns.

What I will not do is post a thread on THR whining about how this retail chain has pissed in my beer.

I will also buy at least one Ruger product this year.

I will also buy at least one gun from a manufacturer whose products I don't already own.

And I will continue to buy ammo at Wal*Mart.

HAHA! I think people hate these thread not because they are about wal-mart .. but at the fact that every time they see one they see $$ they are spending .. BUY A .22 AND A 9MM!! there cheap enough to shoot

Ya I hear that Academy isn't as prevalent as I assumed it was .. I am just not a big fan of Wal-Mart .. I'll order online instead!

Every week we hear from someone who heard that Wal-Mart will completely quit selling guns. Please stop repeating these rumors.

Are you suggesting that the rumor from three years ago that Wal Mart was going to stop selling guns by the end of the year may have been false?

I'm shocked!
:what:

:D

Some stores have. I was told by a friend, who works for Sportsman Warehouse - corporate, that it's a regional thing. Except for California. Supposedly none of the Cali Walmarts are now selling firearms. He states that Walmart kept getting in trouble with the ATF because "they" refuse to train their rmployees properly.

Here in Idaho all the Wallys are stll selling firearms and ammo.

FWIW:

Funny thing about WalMart.. It seems everyone hates WalMart, yet every WalMart parking lot I have ever passed, in any State, has plenty of cars in it.

I'm an old guy, and the "ww destroyed all of the "mom 'n pop" stores complaint is heard a great deal.. Trouble is, I remember when there was no WalMart, only "mom 'n pop" stores, and generally they gouged the crap out of customers.. I grew up in the '50's and '60's in a small town and if you wanted something you went to the local "mom ' pop" and paid what THEY priced the item at.

No competition means higher prices, no matter whether it's wally world, or "mom 'n pop"..

I hate it that WW is raising the prices of ammo, but like the other poster said, how much is gas now? And everthing else.. As soon as WW ammo prices exceed the prices I can get ammo from elsewhere, I'll go to that place and buy ammo.

If you factor in the reality that you "generally" don't make a special trip to ww to buy 100rds of 9mm ammo @ $15.00 but simply pick up a value pack while shopping for something else it's still a good deal. If I have to drive 15 mi. one way to WW then by the end of the round trip I have burned up at least one gallon of fossil fuel @ $2.00+ per gallon. If I plan ahead and pick up my ammo while I'm already at wally world I consider it a bargain..

Best Wishes,

J. Pomeroy
