Another suspect killed by a SWAT team in GA.

I don't know exactly how to threaten someone with a pistol. Does anybody else know how?

Yea I know, point it at them. If you don't consider that a threat, then what would you consider a threat, after he shoots somebody.

There is a big difference between believing that police sometimes over react and down right hatred of police. If the guy was wanted for murder, two different people and two different police dept. wanted the guy and he had three hours to surrender and then threatened them with a gun, them yea they had every right to kill the dude.

So if someone threatens you with serious bodily injury or death you're going to wait for a court ruling before you defend yourself? That's rhetorical, because we all know you won't. Why do you expect it to be different for cops than it is for you?

So, there, you did it again. I originally said that there was not enough information about this in the report. Then I asked you, Mr. DMF,
Perhaps Mr. DMF could 'splain how the bg managed to threaten the officers in the APC.

Still no answer.

At least the hostages weren't killed.

I am assuming that there were hostages even though the report didn't mention it. I mean imminent threat, close to the end of the shift, APC needing an oil change.....something imminent.

Hadda be hostages.

If I drove my APC up to a guy that was barricaded in his garage and he pointed his pistol at me, I would not feel that I was in imminent danger of serious bodily injury or death.

Maybe it's just me.

Just because they have an APC is not a good reason to go around killing the suspects. That is for a judge, jury and what they call, "due process".

Defending the unnecessary killing of suspects is not high road.

i see the problem

they don't have one of those special apc's like the circlewalker. you know the kind that enables you to disarm and cuff a guy from inside it without getting shot. you'd think with all that dhs money the cops would have one but i'll wager they are still recklessly endangering innocent multiple murderers by letting those bloodthirsty cops get their jollies by jumping out in front of a guy with a gun(who's already killed 2 folks) and having a party roughing him up and tytrying to cuff him. its a shame the cops are so selfish anmd keep all the fun to themselves. i'm sure they'd be overwhemed with noble civilian volunteers (like the walker) who could show em how its done by a real man

This thread should have been locked.

Suspect bashing.

I am only going to say one more thing then I am outa here.

If I am the LT and I say to my cops, "Go arrest this suspect cause a ona counta we think he did some murders." and the cops come back and say, "Sorry, boss, we kilt him instead."

I would say to them........"Boys, you failed."

of course

the guys who have to face him probably feel a lil differently after looking at the homicidal maniac with a gun aimed at em. but then again always some remf (be he a lt or some wanna be from fort livingroom) who can make those tough calls more easily... and more safely too. they are everywhere

It looks like the correct procedure to me.

CCW does bring up a funny point, that being that just how does a guy with a pistol or non-.50cal rifle threaten an APC?

Well, it was probably a bit more than APC vs suspect. Likely, some SWATties jumped out and tried to arrest the suspect. APCs are notoriously inept at clearing houses and apprehending subject by their lonesome.

Yeah, maybe this thread should be locked. After all, we don't have all the facts yet. We should lock it until all the facts come out. Maybe the cops threatened to sodomize him before the suspect was forced to threaten with the gun, to protect his chastity? We don't know.

What's the point of this thread, DMF? It looks to be a justified shooting by the available evidence. Good. That's how it should be. That should be the norm. Is this some sort of feeble attempt make a commentary against the posters who don't have postive comments when all the available evidence points to a bad shoot? See, there's a big difference between shoots like this and shoots like the 92 yr old woman incident, NYC, etc. In ones like this, all evidence points to a good and justified shoot. In the other, all evidence points to a bad shoot. In both, we still lack some information... But supporting the former and not the latter isn't cop bashing. Nobody says anything when support is given to the cops in situations like this where the cops made a seemingly good decision, although we also don't have all the info yet. There's no calls of cop worship, although there'd be cries of cop bashing when the situation is reversed. It's just being objective to be basing opinions on evidence, rather than giving the cops a huge berth of bias as some posters do. Even going so far as to construct imagined scenarios as ridiculous as the one above. Nobody makes calls for lockdowns until all the info arrives(which will be never) with situations like these, where the cops made a seemingly good decision. In contrast with the unfortunate situations where they made a seemingly bad decision.

The point is, there is no evidence in any of these stories. They are news reports..all over, pro or con. There isn't enough information to make any kind of judgment.

So I'm closing this one too.

Jeff
