Another Taurus quality thread.

I've been pleased with Taurus over the last 3 decades, and another at the right price is always welcome.

Am waiting on a M605 Poly Protector in .357 magnum, 20 ounce gun. I ordered it with a voucher from Taurus for 30 percent off ($330 by my calculation), but they called me the other day, said the price to me is 289 (plus a 25 dollar FFL transfer fee at a LGS.) This will make my 4th Taurus revolver. :D

I didn't read this whole thread but I do have a Taurus PT-145 Millennium Pro. Mine is a Gen. 3 model which had all the problems fixed (they were minor problems anyway). It is SA/DA. I've put right at 5000 rounds through it and I have not had one single issue of any kind other than one cartridge took a second strike to make it fire. The gun allows you to strike the cartridge again if it doesn't fire the first time.

The gun is super accurate too. And it is very well balanced with very little muzzle flip. I can fire 11 rounds in about 8 seconds and hit a pie plate every time at about 20 yards. I've shot empty cartridges from 20 yards too and I hit them on the first try. 20 yards seems to be the limit on the extreme accuracy but out to about 40 yards it's plenty accurate enough. That's pretty good for a short barrel pistol designed for concealed carry.

I've put all kinds of different ammo through it too. The gun has been all but perfect for me. BUT - I have seen Taurus guns that were nothing but junk. It seems they can't make up their mind whether they want to be Colt or Crap. I wouldn't have bought mine but the LGS owner was so sure I'd like it he gave me a 30 day, no questions asked return policy. I knew I'd be keeping the gun within a day. I'd guess that shop owner knew it too. They were very nice guns.

That said we just can't ignore all the horror stories. I've seen photos of really messed up guns that were made by that company. Even with the 30 day return policy it took me a week to decide to buy that Taurus. I actually went to buy a Glock but my hand and their ergonomics just don't go together. I spend half the money I had to buy a smaller carry pistol and I came out with an absolute gem. The thing puts 10 + 1 rounds of .45 ACP in a package that most wouldn't think would hold 10 rounds of 9mm. It's 1.1" thick and it's a double stack. Sig has been bragging about how think their new 227 is and it's a quarter of an inch thicker than my Taurus and they both hold the same amount of ammo.

I don't even know if I would buy another Taurus or not. They really are that iffy. I've had a great example of one for about 10 years or more and I would still be leery of buying another one without the same kind of deal I got before from a LGS that I trusted to actually back up their sales.

So you pays your money and you takes your chances. That's Taurus for you.

I have 5 Taurus'. A 24/7.45, PT111 G2, PT709, PT92 and the TCP. Not a bit of problems with any of them. They all shoot well. Very pleased with these fine weapons.
