Any hope left for Californians?

quoting Jesus, Lincoln said: "A house divided against itself cannot stand."

The weather and my family are the only things I miss.

Don't be fooled, CA easily has some of the best climate in the US.

I like Texas quite a lot and the weather in Austin aint bad, but I lived most my life in places where the only humidity you encountered was when you took a hot shower.

If there's no hope for California, there's no hope for the rest of you either

"As goes California, so goes the nation."

Hey, you want to move to another state? Maybe you can own that EBR there, now, but will you be allowed to in 10 years?

Well, you could be dead in 10 years, so why worry about it, right?

California, as we are often told here, is the eighth largest economy in the world. Almost all the movies you will ever see come from here. Same with the TV shows you watch. Your kids are memorizing songs by Cali bands. Fashions, trends, ideas-memes, if you will-are what this state exports in greater abundance than even fruit or rice. Don't mess with Texas? Your teenager knows more about the characters on "The OC" than the men at the Alamo! Right now, a bill is swiftly moving through the channels to ban smoking on all public beaches. That would never happen where you are, right? Guess where the "No smoking in restaurants" law got started.

You can run, but you cannot hide. From here in Sacramento, the guy who brags about all he is doing for RKBA in Texas or Colorado or Alaska is like hearing the REMF tell his war stories. It's as impressive as John Kerry's Purple Heart.

You know, Standing Wolf, maybe you'll always miss the temperate climate and beaches, but when you tucked tail and ran, ours was the greater loss. California can't be left to the Left, because the Left will never be content to control "just" California. The rest of America is on the list.

Maybe the day will come when I can't fight this crap anymore, and I'll move elsewhere to shoot my remaining guns while I'm still allowed. I hope not, though.

This is where the battle is fiercest. This is where the war will be won or lost.

And if you haven't done so already, THANK JIM MARCH!!!! He, more than anyone else here, has led this fight.

Jim-you're my hero, man. I wanna be like you when I grow up. :)

Is there any hope left that the CA government will let up a little on their ever-harsh gun laws?

6/24/2004 - A proposed constitutional amendment to lower California's
minimum voting age from 18 to 14 was approved Wednesday by a Senate
committee. The five-member Senate Constitutional Amendments Committee
approved the measure on a 3-1 vote. Democratic Sen. John Burton, Martha
Escutia and Debra Bowen voted in support and Republican Charles
Poochigian opposed the measure. Republican Sen. Tom McClintock, who made
his opposition clear when the committee took testimony on the proposal
two weeks ago, was not present for the vote.

I don't think so.

And the women... Are leftist and mostly shallow, high maintenance and plasticized

Hey! Wait just a minute! We're not ALL leftist, shallow, high maintenance, and plasticized! Some of us are right thinkers, gun owners, and only high maintenance when it comes to firearms and ammo (I like gifts that go "bang"). Shallow? Nope. Not me! :D

Except for Ahnold, every State Head is a leftists, the legislature is nearly a bullet-proof majority leftist, and the majority of the senate is still protesting in Haight-Ashbury. Until these offices are brought into balance, there is no hope.

Contrary to the opinion of Anti-Bubba, escapees didn't run. We were made criminals by the stroke of a pen. In order to have an EBR, you must register with DOJ. I refused to do so and waited for the political climate to change. It only got worse. So, stay and fight and bring attention to myself with the possibility of jail time? Or give up my EBRs? I lived in Orange County in a very conservative area. My state legislator and senator were uber-conservative. An island in a sea of socialists. Not to mention this cappola about a handgun safety certificate and DOJ registration.

I chose freedom. If enough of the productive leave the state, they will be required to change or sink.

In Utah I can by whatever and received CCW in a week.

Sorry, that was supposed to be, "most of the women."
 ;)

An uphill battle

I was looking at a high school history textbook, they only mention the 2nd amendment in one sentence saying that it "relates" to the millitary and that the Supreme Court regulary upholds that it does not confer private ownership rights :barf:

The good thing I noticed about CA is that as a whole, gunnies are real nice to each other-alot more then I noticed the short time I lived in Florida.
Also being that ccw is so rare there less restrictions then that are imposed in other states, like baseball stadiums and bars aren't posted. Some Countys are just about shall issue, every rifle range in the North part of the State has people with "evil looking features" CA AWB has been ignored (for the most part) CA is alot better then NYC NY State-if you get a ccw in upstate NY you cant carry in NYC,but if you score a ccw in shasta you can carry in LA.

Sitting here surfing THR yesterday... two of my roomates are getting ready to go see Michael Moore's new film (groan), outside I hear a DNC fundraiser talking to my roomate: "we are going door to door to collect money for John Kerry, as you know we have an upbill battle to defeat George Bush"... I look out and see the long-haired, 22-year old fresh out of college with his clipboard. He is lucky he didn't knock on my door.

I was sitting there, steam coming out my ears, working through in my head what I would have said if he had accosted me.... I might have pointed to the NRA sticker on my door and asked him: "what's this? what does that tell you about your chances of getting money from me today?"

But then I realized: is it even worth it? Is there any chance this guy would ever change his views? Also, do I want some guy knowing about my guns?

Just like at work, when my colleages try to get me riled up, talking about "why does anyone NEED a semi auto" and "you have a DANGEROUS obsession with guns". I believe they are not only afraid of intrinsicly inanimate objects, but also many are afraid of THEMSELVES around firearms. Like I once heard, "I'm afraid of heights, maybe it is the fear that I myself might jump" - they want guns banned because they do not trust themselves with them!

This is a place where having an NRA sticker is equivalent to having a sticker saying "I eat babies". I only see NRA stickers on pickup trucks, probably people who don't even live in my city but come here to work during the day, or crusty oldtimers with navy ballcaps. My gun club (Sunnyvale Rod and Gun Club) is an oasis of sanity - it is encouraging to see that there are more and more relative 'youngsters' (20s/30s) up there who care about protecting our rights.

It's too bad that we are far - in my opinion - from being able to pull together a majority so that we can affect change. I honestly think that this whole region is brainwashed, deeply, and reprogramming is unlikey to occur on a wide scale. The best thing we can all do? Take an Anti to the range. Don't say anything about laws or rights, just take them to the range... maybe to shoot trap first... you might be surprised how you can change opinions when people realize how fun firearms can be.

Jim March

Folks, the grabbers made a mistake this year, one that's going to bite them badly this year and subsequent.
I hope you are closer on this than you were on the "stealth candidate".

man am I tired of reading the same caricature dismissals of California.

"Sheeple" THIS -

mapN4031008084428.gif

That's the CA Recall vote tallies, by County. Really shows where the problem lays.

We have a few key cities / population centers that are the problem. They will take much much work to turn around.
Taking down the Anti- shills like Pereta and Lockyer are another matter.
The rest is manageable with a little effort.

And for the stubborn 'all-or-nothing' fire-spitters crapping on Arnold, he was the BEST way to get the nose under the tent so to speak. The Pendulum in CA HAS started to swing the other way. Just an examination of the recall vote tallies and the upset the LLL media took when their predictions fell flat on their faces should indicate that to anyone that bothers to look.
And propagandists like the L.A. Times are LOSING circulation / readership. The "sheeple" (god how I HATE that lame dismissal, as well as the always helpful 'move') know who is lying to them.
It may take another 10yrs to overturn the CA AWB. But we are definitely beginning our swing back that way.

Thanks for posting that map. I live in one of those green zones (67% to dump Davis) As somebody else said, California is my home, my freinds and family live here, I work here, I'm not leaving and I'm not a sheep.

Maybe us in the Golden State who are prone to prayer should start praying for a really big earthquake, those red zones are all sitting on fault lines that would be one way to rock the vote.

Ryoushi-
Hey, I'm in one of those red zones!!! lol
The climate is great, but most of the population is asleep. I think they are beginning to wake up..............

I'm sorry I was only kidding. I have alot of friends in those red zones and will be staying with some of them this weekend. Calif. is a beautiful State but we are kind of like the canaries down in the coal mine in that we are going through problems that many of you in the rest of the country will be facing in the future. As the demographics turn from rural to urban and resources get thinner and thinner watch for the same social ills across the West.

The true test of the map is this:

YES: 4,246,844 .. 54.9%
NO: 3,499,320 .. 45.1%

Nearly half of the vote was packed into that small red area. Reminds me of the CCW vote in MO and how that vote failed.

I currently live in New Jersey but will be moving to Long Beach, Cali in a few months. I own 3 shot guns and a .22LR. I was wondering what all the state laws are: Is registration of these guns mandatory and if so how do I go about it. In NJ we need a Firearms ID Card to buy or transport any guns etc. What do I need to buy and transport in Cali? If someone w/ guns moves into NJ they have to ship their guns to a licensed dealer in NJ before having them turned over to them in NJ, how do I bring my guns into Cali? Also, what are the laws governing the purchase of handguns as I am looking to purchase one shortly after moving. Any information even the basics would be great and anything I forgot that someone might know of would be great. Thanks!
Jim

Well this maybe a dumb question but I am going to post it anyway.

We the residents of this republic signed a petition to have davis removed from office by voting and it worked. Is there anyway WE can put togethor a petition to have laws removed or changed by popular vote?

OR petition to have a vote on a constitutional amendment to include a right to keep and bear arms????

they want guns banned because they do not trust themselves with them!

Bingo! Sven wins the prize. This is the main mindset of anti-gun people, and the Left in general. When fighting them we need to understand that this is where they come from, and not "I want to enslave all human beings and disarming them is the best way." Not consciously, at least.

The Left believe that human beings are a cancer on the Earth, and that in our hearts we all have a desire to be racist, kill, and pillage those who are not like us. They believe this because these desires truly live within their own hearts. Thus it is an article of faith of the Left -- and therefore of most CA legislators.

Tear down this thinking, and we win.
