Any other Levergun nuts out there?

GG, you are right of course. Sorry for miscommunicating.

I'm interested in .30-30, so am focused on that 336A.

But for those looking for a .44, it'll be different.

Nematocyst-870,
It's a Wild West Guns "Co-pilot," .457 magnum(WWG custom round, also shoots 45-70 and a .410 round) 16.5 barrel, kevlar synth stock, Leupold FX-II 2.5x28mm Scout scope all on the 1895 frame. Made in Anchorage. I have a couple of little places in AK one near Palmer and another on Petersville Rd. near Trapper Crk. Just property...no cabin yet Travel back and forth from Florida right now. Stay in touch.

FLtoAK05, thanks for the information.

I've written to Jim West to see if he sells those Kevlar stocks for 336. It's a little unclear from his web site. Here's their description from their accessories page:

Our exclusive, super high quality stock blanks are the basis for our famous Custom stocks. Made to our own stringent specifications, these lightweight yet sturdy blanks are are custom molded to fit all Marlin 1895, 336 and 444 series rifles with forend caps. Slimmer than the factory wood, yet far more durable due to proprietary design and reinforcement in critical areas. Far stronger than other competing products. Unfinshed, requires final inletting, fitting and painting. $259.
"...with forend caps" suggests that it will only fit Marlin 336A.

Followup....

I was looking at a dirt bike today and struck up a really long winded conversation (long winded on my part) on guns in general with one of the fellows there and when I was explaining about my Co-Pilot, then he started whipping out a nice array of guns for my inspection. #2 gun out was a BLR in 7mm-08 and it really was a fine gun. Really light feeling but it may have just been me being pumped up from a quick ride just previously. That barrel was almost impossibly thin. I reckoned it was a 243 or smaller. I enjoyed the snick of the action and detachable mag, though the trigger was a bit long in travel. Surely nothing a good smithy couldn't remedy. I could see having one of those. I even got invited out to shoot a whitetail or 2 in a couple weeks. Sure like meeting new gun folks especially when you throw in aircraft, bikes, bobcats and good whiskey (though not at the same time;->)

Heard back from them today. The answer is "no". They don't have forends for 336s.

Aside from Ramline (and Wild Dog, who are reportedly working on a model), are there other synthetic stocks out there for 336?

How hard is it to put those on? I bought the SKS plastic set up from Pauls, and it was a bi*&^ to put on. It took a long time. And it was confusing. Looks cool now though. retractable stock, etc.

I would dig the camo setup.

Scott, thanks for that post. Looks like the Ramline, but I can't be sure. Their description is a bit light.

Sgt Stevo, I've not had any experience putting them on before. It's going to be an adventure for me once I get around to trying it.

Actually, I've got some good news about synth stocks. The nice folks at Wild Dog USA have told me that they are working on a design for the Marlin 336 (and that it's OK to announce that publically). They aren't committing yet to a time line, but still ... this is exciting.

Their stocks are considerably more expensive than the Ramlines - 4-5X more - but from reading their descriptions of the manufacturing process, materials and features available, I'm thinking I may just go for one. (What the hey, it's only money! )

sure is

yes, that 1894 stainless ltd. is 16". It was a fairly recent limited production run, they made them in .357, .41, .44, and .45LC. I was the only bidder on mine on gunbroker. Shot it and the 336 today at the range and got about a 2" group 3" high at 25yds (rear sight at highest elevation) on the .45 and a 2" group 2" high on the scoped .30-30 at 100 yds. I doubt I will use the .45 for more than 50 yds but man it is a sweet handing SHORT gun. It fits in an old .22 youth rifle scabbard I had lying around.

someone post their proud pics of levers in 32-20:) For some reason that cartridge appeals to me,though the fact is I've never fired one.I think part of the appeal to me is its designation..32-20 it just seems "cool".That and the fact that it conjures thought of the early 20th century levers.Ah,then there is 25-20.

Im thinking down the road a M92 in 32-20 might be on the shopping list.

This is my only lever, but its by far my favorite rifle. It was given me by a family friend , I have dated it between 1950-1955. Its been a great rifle for being as old as it is and has taken down two deer.

Right now, all of my centerfire rifles are lever-actions, so I guess I am a fan. I have several Marlin 1894 models and a few examples of the 336. I also have three Marlin .22 LR levers, including a 39A, a 39AS, and a 1897T.

I am impressed...

So many fine rifles. Nice to know that I am not the only one hooked on lever action. Looks like I get to try out my 45/70 on deer this year. If I get one then for the second (and 3rd) tags I will try my 1894 LTD edition 357 then the M94 30-30. Distances are pretty short in the woods where I will be and it is quite accurate. Should be fun. I have been out of hunting for several decades and looking forward to filling the freezer. I reckon Puddin (the Bobcat) and I will be fighting over some of the cuts... Thanks for all the pix. I have seen a few in your pix that I've never seen before. It seems I learn or see something new every time on THR.

I am not a levergun nut.....but I like to think I am off to a good start.

Below is my Marlin 1894 in .357 mag. I have been very happy with this rifle and goes to the range/desert almost every trip.

This was bought at Big 5 for $299 + tax. Money well spent.

It's a cheap Bushnell Banner red dot with 4 different reticles :)
It's my third sighting system for this rifle and the one that I finally feel confident with. Perfect for a carbine.
Would like an aimpont 9000 or equivalent, but I just don't have the cash.
