Any thoughts on 3-gun optics for .300 BLK SBR?

I am trying to figure out what type of optic would best suit a .300 SBR. Obviously, I could use a T1 or something short ranged and just use holdover and Kentucky windage for longer shots.

However, I plan on using both subsonic and supersonic ammo and probably different loads in both. Even at relatively close ranges (say 200m), the subsonics have some significant drop, so a magnified ranging reticle seems to make some sense.

Leupold, Nikon, and Trijicon all offer specific .300 reticles; but they don't make it super clear what loads they used to develop those reticles (except for Nikon). Even where you have that information, you've still got different windrift for subs due to longer exposure time.

I am thinking that a non-specific illuminated reticle like the Horus H50 or Swarovski BRT on a 1-4x or 1-6x might be the best choice for an all around optic for a .300 SBR. I thought I'd throw this out there and see what some of our members have come up with in these regards.

I am not too knowledged about the load information, but leupold glass always looks the clearest to me. Their VX-R fire dot scopes are pretty nice.

I put a Nikon p223 3X on my blackout. I'd like to think while less than optimal for close in it's pretty good all around. With Nikon's spot on program it's easy to figure ranges for the reticle for 2 or 3 different loads.

FYI Horus make crappy optics, but their reticles are awesome. I would never purchase a Horus optic.

I have the Nikon with the 300BO reticle...you can go onto Nikon's site and customize the load and it can be done for supersonic and subsonic loads. The Nikon optic is alright for a $200 optic, but it's nothing to get excited over.

I think Leatherwood also makes a 1-4x variable that's calibrated for .300blk/7.62x39

for 3 gun, i've tried an Eotech xps2-0, Weaver classic 1-3x and currently a nikon monarch african 1-4x. I like them all. I don't like busy reticles like Burris TAC 30. Any Weaver(1-3x), Leupold, Nikon, Vortex in or 1-4x will work well.

I shoot 223/5.56 and most matches i shoot are 300 yards or less. So a 50/200 zero and kentucky windage works well for me. Tactical turrets like the Nikon M223 or P223 to quickly come up for longer distances would be good.

For illumitated, as i said, i don't like busy reticls, but the small red dot at the center of crosshairs would be nice. Like some leupolds and trijicons.

edit: if you can afford a good 1-6x, get it.

Easy answer ..... Burris MTAC 1-4x with P.E.P.R mount and Burris FastFireIII on top, $600 or less for the whole sighting system depending on where you buy it . Takes care of long and short range. I've seen this setup in action on 5.56 and .300blk and if I was a 3-gun guy this would be my sighting system of choice. May buy it just for hunting with my AR:D

A scope and a red dot put you in open class/div. Unless you go all open class, it will put you at a disadvantage scoring wise vs other open shooters.

Leupold 2-7 FireDot Patrol is what I use on my Noveske .300 upper. Little more preciison at 7x, slightly larger objective light bucket than a 1x and at 2x the dot tracks real fast. Course I do have off set iron sights for real close stuff 50 foot or less. :)

If you get something with ranging lines, hopefully you'll be able to match the various lines up with at least two different POI, for super and subsonic.

How about two scopes and QD mounts sighted in for each load, mount the optic to match your ammo, or are you planning to mix ammo in a single match?

I would like to be able to go from super to subs just by swapping magazines. After all, that is supposed to be one of the selling points of .300. I am interested in seeing how practical that actually is.

Another plus of a mil-type reticle with an illuminated CQB reticle is if I decide it doesn't work on the SBR, I can always throw it on a 16" 5.56mm.

I am already running a TA11 with an Aimpoint T1 at 45 deg on one rifle and have been underwhelmed with that. So I am not really interested in that set up with a SBR - especially since you get a face full of gas through the ejection port when you rotate a suppressed rifle 45 deg.
