So I spent a few months of going back and forth on what kind of AR to build between a 5.56mm to an almost useless 9mm AR, to buying a 9mm AR to wanting a real AR again..... ;)
Turns out the only thing I can get in my state being under 21 is an HBAR. A few people on another forum im a member of pointed the Windham HBC out to me and wanted to get info on there products from people who own one.

They make excelent rifles. I have owned two that they made, but the label on them says "Bushmaster".

Same people, just a new name. Besides who else is giving you a lifetime warranty on their AR's?

The WW factory is the old Bushmaster plant that was sold after Freedom Group bought Bushmaster. FG moved Bushmaster branded manufacturing to another plant.

FG moved Bushmaster branded manufacturing to another plant.

All FG wanted was the Bushmaster Brand Name, Bushmaster's old president kept title to the plant and retained all the old personel after FG move the operations. Windham is the old Bushmaster personal and skill and knowledge. I trust them not FG.

I agree. FG wanted the Bushmaster Defense contracts, too.

However, i do like some FG stuff. I like the AAC brand and Remington ain't too bad.

Too the OP: A WW should be a fine AR.

I've had one of their varmint guns for about 5 months. No problems and it seems well made.

My dad handled one at the local gunshop while I was there picking up a transfer.

He asked my opinion on it, compared to the others that were on the shelf (a new-Bushmaster, a Sig M400 and a Remington R15). I said the Windham he was handling was probably the best of the four... and he bought it right then and there.

Well, I got to field strip it and lubricate it as soon as he got it home. It is an old school pre-Freedom Group Bushmaster rifle. That's the only way to really describe it. It has no high-tech coatings, no expensive drop-in trigger, it even came with the old school carry handle instead of a flip-up backup sight.

And everything was PERFECT. I highly recommend them.

Got a SRC and its an excellent gun. Fit and finish are excellent. I also have a bushmaster moe made in Maine an I prefer the Windham. For 750$ they're probably a best buy.

I never realized that any state limited one's AR purchase to an HBAR. What state is that? MY original AR was/is a Bushy Shorty from 20-yrs-ago. It's been excellent. I had a choice between the Bushy and a Colt for $50 more. The seller wisely recommended the Bushy, and I truly appreciate his insight.

I have the Windham SRC. Great gun, fit and finish is superior to anything else I have seen under $1,000.00 Good company and people too, I have sent several e-mails inquiring about things and have always received responses, which is more than I can say about other companies like Mossberg.

Buying this gun also keeps Americans in Maine working, they are the underdogs against the giant faceless conglomerates like FG.
