Anybody else a big fan of the XD?

I like them, but I agree they have overly aggressive grip checkering. With the 9mm, its not too bad but with a more stout recoil, it gets annoying and even painful. Still I wouldn't turn one down if I found one at the right price.
I do want a full size combat pistol, an the XD or XDm is on my short list.

I had four at one time, but then decided I did not need two in 40SW. Down the 45 compact, 9 subcompact and XDm 3.8 40 compact right now. I stay qualified with each for my employment.

they're the first pistols that convinced me I could give the 1911 a rest.

I don't find the XD slippery or overly aggressive grip, especially in a stock pistol. Even the XD-S grip feels very comfortable, although I haven't shot one to see how the stippling feels with recoil. The only thing I would probably change on the XD grip would be an overmold with some finger grooves.

I have 4 XD platform pistols; XD9, XD45c, XD9sc, and the most recent addition, the XDs45. They are very reliable and hit what I am shooting at. Can't ask for much more than that. :D

Count me as a fan.
Years of shooting 1911s, then later Glocks(I really like both of those as well), a couple of XDs have really "hit home" with me.
One is on my belt sixty or so hours a week, and the other is the closest thing I could grab when there's a bump in the night.

I have an XDm 4.5 inch in 9mm as my night stand gun. I really like the ergonomics, including the adjustable backstrap. I upgraded the trigger with the PRP drop-in kit. It's a great shooting pistol.

I had an XD40 for a while until I wanted something cheaper to shoot and something that my wife could shoot and ended up trading for a NIB CZ75B that I love far more. I'll probably get another XD at some point but I like the CZ more.

I have an XDM 4.5" 9mm that I set up for IDPA shooting.

I put Warren/Sevigny sights on it FO front/black rear and installed the PRP trigger kit and a magwell. Plus a talon grip.

It is a sweet shooting gun and has been 100 % reliable. I don't shoot it much anymore as I have switched to some other platforms but I can't see getting rid of it.

I've always thought that the XD was a bit slippery.
I agree, but I found mine to be aggressive at the same time. By that I mean that with dry hands it has sufficient grip, but get a little sweaty on a hot day and the back strap rubbed my hand the wrong way. So I decided a bit of stippling was in order. Since I never plan on selling mine resale value was not a factor in my decision. On my XD45 w/ compact grip I put a round stippling indention in the center of every little square on the front strap and back strap. Then I stippled the "thumb grooves" or whatever you wish to call them, and outlined the existing texture on the sides of the grip. Nothing too aggressive and if a person had never seen an XD before they'd probably think it came from the factory that way. I added some grip where it needed it and left everything else alone.

An XD40 was my first "true" handgun purchase (unless you count the Masterpiece Arms MAC11 variant I had) back in '07 when Kansas first legalized concealed carry. After I had it for a couple years my dad bought an XD45 full size. I was upset by the fact his held 1 more round and that big .45 shot much more smoothly than my .40. So I sold it and soon came into a Springfield 1911, which I owned for 6 months before deciding I missed the XD platform. Sold it and bought my current XD45c that I'll never get rid of. It's accurate, reliable, comfortable, and has decent capacity. That's all I need for a concealed carry gun. But I'd like to get a 9mm in the same style setup, 4" barrel with compact grip and a 5" barreled .45 w/ compact grip (and/or 5.25" XDm .45). Maybe an XDs .45 someday. I love the XD line, but I wouldn't be one bit disappointed if they quit making .40's. I just can't like that caliber no matter how much I try.

I used to carry a subcompact XD9. I just gravitated towards a Glock 19 and now I carry that. The father carries the XD. Great gun, never had a problem with it but wasn't a huge fan of all the little extras it had. the glock was no frills, very utilitarian.

The XD is very solid and I have an XDm and have had several regular XD pistols. There are things I like about them, but I'm not really a fan of the trigger (although not bad, just not what I like) or the high bore axis, feels very tall. I much prefer Glock but I have nothing against the XD series either.

I have all three XD's in 45 ACP, and I am impressed with all, The 5.25 XDm with the CT Sight, is a TACK Driver, Will see about the XDs in a few days when the weather looks a little dryer. the 4.25 Is very nice for carry, and the extra firepower, The XDs 3.3 Holster is uncomfortable for me, Got a Thunderwear as a Temp Solution. Very eager to check the XDs with the new CT Sight as well.

Great Guns, just don't be afraid to get a hold of the XDm, as it needs a Mansize Grip to properly function. If you don't have a solid Firearm Grip, don't get an XDM/s, you won't like it.

Otherwise, Enjoy

They were my favorite polymer pistols until the M&P came out. The grip safety I could do without. I've been considering one of the XDm 45 competition models since I could still use my XD45 mags.
