Just two minutes from sanity.
Kel-tec's folding bayonet. It appears to be a liner-locking folder that one can mount on any rifle that accepts M-16 bayonets. Frankly, the idea strikes me as kind of goofy. Bayonets are subjected to crazy stress when actually used for bayoneting somebody or something. I don't think this item would stand up to too much practice. Kind of pricey too..$120 if you order it directly from them. Anyway, anybody got one? How well made and sturdy are they, really?

"...when actually used for..." Not much of that going on anymore. Bayonets are for parades now. The Kel-tec thing is a marketing gimmick.

British troops regularly fix bayonets when clearing rooms, trenches or other enemy positions in Iraq and Afghanistan. Since our bullpups are so short, it doesn't make the gun too big to handle in close quarters but it does scare the living hell out of any one who sees them (or, after the stories get around, knows that they're coming) and it never hurts to stab and shoot your enemy at the same time in extreme close quarters. While I would always want a bayonet with me, I would never trust a folding knife to perform as a bayonet.

I handled one and found it interesting, but for that price I can think of dozens of other knives that are better.

Their greatest mistake was putting the cutting edge on the wrong side. As it is now the bayo lug is a huge obstacle to efficiently using the knife.

KT explains that this is meant to be a knife that CAN be used as a bayonet. Considering that is exactly how most bayonets are used, I think it's a great idea...but I have yet to see one in person.
