I know the 226 wasn't designed for CC, but it seems like it wouldn't be any harder to conceal than a Government size 1911. So does anyone conceal-carry a 226? Just curious really. Went into a gunshop today looking for a 229, and they didn't have any. Of course they had a 226, which I made the mistake to handle. Before I knew it, the gears were whirring.

I carry a P220R and a P229R. The P220 is a little bit bigger than the 229 but easily concealable with a good holster. I use a Galco Summer Carry. It fits great for me. I am 5'10", 200 lbs.

I conceal a 228 regularly and my 226 isn't too much larger (and most of the additional size is in the barrel/slide) so I wouldn't think it would be much more difficult to carry a 226. Just make sure you get a good holster and belt and you should be set. I'm a fan of the Crossbreed holsters which seem to work well for hiding larger guns.

I'm a fan of the Crossbreed as well. I've been carrying a Glock 19 for most of the past two years. Thats the smallest size gun I'm interested in carrying, thus the SIG 229. I really can't find any fault in the Glock. I love it, plain and simple. Lately though, I've been craving something with a bit more flavor... and I've always been drawn to the SIG P-series.

I know the 226 wasn't designed for CC,

Where did you get this idea? The P220 carries just the same; the overall height is the same as the P226. All you need is good forward cant to the holster.

BILLG - what holster is that - can't make out the makers mark. Looking for something similar for a P6...

It is a Garrett industries.Leather lined Kydex.I have since taken the clip off and put on the dual loop.

Pretty easy to find the 2 phone numbers, email address, and web address on the business card in the last pic.:)

A Sig 226 is pretty big...try holding one up against a full size 1911 for a direct comparison....you can conceal most anything short of a 105mm howitzer given a suitable choice in clothing, but it may be a royal PITA.

BTW, a Sig 226 is 3/8" shorter than a 5" 1911, and the same height, but is actually thicker through the grip dimension!

Best Regards, Rod

It is not just the size but the weight with a magazine full of ammo. I carry mine in a Galco FED paddle holster.
BTW. Garrett holsters are some of the best designs and well made holsters out there.
