Seems like after 9/11, Threat Level Orange, Hurricane Andrew, LA Riots, etc. etc. etc. many of you have had friends ask you guys to borrow firearms.

I don't think anyone's ever asked me to borrow a gun before. But then, some people I know think my fire extinguisher is a little extreme

I've only had one person ask about guns, I offered to train her and help her shop for a gun, but like heck I'll let her borrow one just to feel better. Mom and dad were out of town and there were noises outside? (prolly possums) Other than that, I've never had anyone explicitly ask to borrow anything from my armory.

Anyone here who's never had anyone ask them to borrow a gun or two?

No one in my family has asked to borrow a gun from me! Slotback maintains his triple option of firepower at all times. I have encouraged all of my family members to purchase firearms, get more training, and more ammo.

Fortunately they have been listening.:D

Never. ...and if a family or friend did ask to borrow something I'd probably tell them no. All depends on the circumstances I guess, but most likely the answer would be a firm but polite, "No. If you really feel like you need one I'd be happy to give you some advice and/or help pick something suitable out for you."

My best friend used to borrow my .45 and .22 to go shooting before he got his first handgun. It was for about 2 months or so. I've lent/borrowed guns for matches and hunting. Heck, Thebluesman's stepdad feels bad if I leave his house without taking a gun. I guess it all depends on who you trust. Only people who have ever had access to my guns were select family members/friends, and a few TFL/THRers.

Never had a request to borrow, but I do get the, "We're coming to your house if anything happens." line pretty regularly.

Yup. The one friend that asked if I could borrow one I politely declined, but offered to take him shooting and go with him to the gun store and help him pick one out. Never took up on that offer.

Never been asked to lend one of my guns, but I also get the "we're coming to your place if bad things start happening" pretty often. I tell those people that I'll already be up in the mountains by the time they realize something bad is going on, and they probably won't be able to find me.

For some reason that doesn't give them any extra incentive to go buy their own....

No neighbors really know how well armed I am; closest relative is sis-in-law about 40 miles away.

Short answer: No

I’m with MarkD on this one; never had friends or family ask to borrow a firearm, but pretty much all my friends here in San Francisco have said that when the next quake hits they intend to camp out in my spare bedroom (gonna get crowded) and help me load mags.

I had a friend ask me once. I declined because he is an unstable sort of person and I was afraid he would use it for no good. Since 9/11, no one has asked me. No one in my family has ever asked me. My sister in law screams when she sees a gun. She has a phobia like some people do with snakes. My wife can't watch a snake on TV without freaking out.

None of my family would TOUCH 'one of those things' and all my friends are better equipped than I am.

You can pick your friends.... :D

I used to lend guns to fellow team members for matches, but wouldn't even consider lending firearms to friends or family members: those with experience already have guns, and those without are welcome to accompany me to the range after an hour's pep talk about safety.

I don't lend cars, computers, books, firearms, money, girl friends, or my imaginary cat.

My Father can borrow anything of mine that he likes at any time. I would lend or give him a firearm in a second.

Not quite the same level with my Brother in Law, but close.

What Firearms?

Friends: my "friends" have their own and are RKBA types, theses are whom I choose to associate with. "Aquaintences", don't know I have, or that I even know anything about firearms...and will not until such time through a CCW class or similar situation, then they change status with me.

Family: Since they have chosen to 'go there on way' on most things , they leave me alone. Only one for sure, a possible second one has any ideas about firearms and my position...good.
I raised, spent my money and the like, they know better after some situations to ask for anything.

I have have 'friends' fly into town, or have a gun problem, I volunterred the use of something...as have been offered to me when I was out of town, state, or just leaving a building with metal detectors...

When 9/11 came around last year mysoon to be fiance asked to borrow a firearm ( I taught her ) as I was on the road at the time I loaned her the gun I taught her with(686) and a rifle for her son to use , (we were both a little paranoid ) but 2 weeks later I got both of them back into my Custody . unfired , appartently her mother wouldn't let them into the house so she kept them in the car for the time . (if the shtf while she was at work it would have helped her she works on the edge of the southside o chicago ) . she still wants the 686 but I said no wedding ring, no gun !

Never been asked by family, probably since all of the family I am close to is as heavily armed as I am!

Haven't been asked by a friend, yet; but then again not all that many of my friends know that I have an entire arsenal in my closet...
