Anyone here a gun enthusiast and NOT a materialistic and/or competetive person?

It is all about balance. I have approximately 50 military surplus rifles (most old bolt action). It took me 15 years to acquire this many. I save approximately $40 per month for the acquisition of firearms and ammo. I bought these items as an investment and as a hobby. I drive a 16 year old car with over 480,000 miles on it. I built my modest house and provide for two daughters in college. I heat my house with wood and go out to eat at most once per month. I have to have a certain amount of materialism to do all of this. However, it all worthless if I have a focus on what is most important - loving, knowing, and serving God.

I read the post title 5 or 6 times and then finally clicked and read it.

What to say ?? I got smart or lucky and was able to pay off my 30yr. home loan in 5 years. In that time , I once worked for OVER 700 days straight !!!! Worked on Christmas , my birthday , wifes B-Day , etc.etc. The "easy day" of the week was Sunday -- only worked 8 or 9 hours .

Like other posters --- now I'm in my early 50s and don't give a sheet what others think of me much.

Cars -- had some GREAT ones - 67,68,69 Camaros , 67 & 69 Firebirds , Olds 442 , GTOs etc. etc.

Now I drive a 1997 Chevy Lumina that I bought for $1200 three years ago.

I bet I spend $1200 on new firearms every couple of months !!!

Competitive --- wanna bet who can P the farthest ?? How about the longest ??? LOL

I STILL LOVE competitive shooting -- IPSC , IDPA , SASS{Cowboy} , 3 Gun Action , Bowling Pins etc. etc.

Like I tell my shooting buddies -- YEAH , my car looks like crap BUT MY GUNS LOOK LIKE A MILLION DOLLARS.

I'm all about doing it as inexpensively as possible.

I love to shoot. I don't have a lot of money. I need to feed my family. So...
-I buy the most inexpensive firearm that meets my criteria for whatever I'm looking for (accuracy, durability, concealability, stopping power, weight, caliber, whatever I'm after)
-I load my own ammo
-I make my own targets
-I use a remote area to shoot instead of a pay range

I cut corners wherever I can to save cash, but I still have almost every type of gun I want (still need a lever action
