There was a long thread on these a month or so ago. I like the concept and the rifles and wish for an ultralight version. Savage is not known for dumping half baked products on the market to test.
.I have a straight pull rifle, an M1905 Ross. I don't see any advantage to straight pull.
So how come I have a 99 Savage in .308? And I can get Browning lever actions in Magnum calibers.Lever action rifles are not generally found in popular cartridges for bolt guns. Like 30-06, .308, 6.5CM, 7MM RM and on and on. Not everyone is in the market for this type of rifle. But I am.
I guess you could get a .300 win Mag in a BLR if you really wanted to, but it 's not a straight pullSo how come I have a 99 Savage in .308? And I can get Browning lever actions in Magnum calibers.
I'm not in the market for a straight pull (I already have an M1905 Ross.) Someone asked about a fast follow up shot, and I pointed out there are levers and semiautos that do that very well.I guess you could get a .300 win Mag in a BLR if you really wanted to, but it 's not a straight pull

I hadn’t heard of them until now, glad you asked about it OP.
I just looked at them on Savage’s website. It’s definitely a departure from the normal bolt gun. Not only is it a straight pull but ambidextrous via a bolt handle that can be removed and change sides and angle if you want. Also appears that the barrel is designed to be easily removed and replaced. May not be a quick change barrel but doable by the average shooter with hand tools. Also see a model that has a fairly large detachable box mag.
Kind of cool, wonder what the price will be like?
