I have my C&R license on file with these guys and I got my CZ-52 through them.

They sent me a catalog with lots of cool things. I want a Bersa .380 they have 3 versions for 169-199.

Their catalog said if I didn't have an FFL not to even bother calling them.

BUT... I have a type of FFL, I'm just not sure if I should bother calling to order the gun if they won't let me buy through them and ship to my FFL dealer. The cheapest one in my area takes $20 for the transfer plus instead of paying for shipping, 5% markup and 7% tax on top of everything. I would save around $5 if I bought it directly for the gun, shipping and FFL transfer instead of all the dealer markups and state/city taxes.

I've dealt directly with AIM for my AR-15 lower and sent it to my FFL, but I'm not sure if SOG will do that. I've heard that they might.

Does anyone know for sure if they will deal with me for non-C&R stuff?

Thanks

All of that hassle to save $5? :) I've bought several C&Rs from them over the years, but never tried a modern firearm. Just give the money to your FFL and have him buy it (plus his transfer fee).

M2: I've heard they're used gun rating system is worthless. Expect a grade or two lower than what you purchase.

So far I'm happy with my CZ-52 but I've yet to fire it.

If your FFL sends them a note saying its OK for you to call and order guns and such, they'll let you do it.Thats how it worked for me anyways. How did you get their catalog, they wouldn't send me one.

Tropical: I have a C&R on file with them to get my CZ-52. In my letter that accompanied my C&R I asked to be placed on their mailing list and email list.

I have a friendlier FFL. I've ordered from lots of companies. I am there when my FFL places the order, he gives my credit card number to the vendor and there is no tax or mark up. He charges $25 for transfer plus the $5 call in. In my experience freight is always tacked on at the shippers end and paid for as the total cost of the transaction (gun + shipping).

I guess I'll just call and see how it goes tomorrow. The worst they can do is berate me for calling and make me cry... I guess their customer service isn't so great. But first I'll see what my local dealers are asking for the same gun before I go around them.

If YOU don't have an 01 FFL then they won't send you non C&R stuff. They MAY send it to an 01 that they have on file on your say so. However you should make sure that your 01 FFL does have one on file with them & that he is ok with random guns that he didn't order just showing up at his shop :scrutiny: .

If you want something that isn't C&R then go to your FFL & either have him order it for you at a markup/fee or do without. You aren't going to talk them into just sending it to you.

Greg, I never said anything about getting the thing sent to me. They would end up losing their business.

I've bought an AR lower from AIM and had it sent to my FFL dealer. I was wondering if SOG would let me do the same. But their catalog makes it seem like they'll cuss you out if a non-FFL calls in. I'm just trying to see what experiences the folks here have had with ordering new guns from them.

My experience with SOG several years ago wasn't good. They'll never get another penny from me. There are too many other places that do it right to waste time with SOG.

My mistake (it was towards the end of a long day :D ), I thought that you were trying to justify trying to get them to send you 01 stuff because you had an 03.

I would still check with your 01 first though to see if he is ok with you ordering things under his name. I know mine would be highly pissed off if I used his FFL without his knowledge.

I have purchased several C&R items through them, and have had excellent results. Never tried any non C&R though.

I had one poor experience with them. My dad and I purchased two C&R rifles in "good" condition. The bore on one was so bad that bullets were keyholing at 25yds. It had almost no rifling at all. The exterior finish was acceptable for the good criterion. The other bore was not as bad,but was very close to needing a rebarrel.
