Hiyah guys and gals. I have a mid-length ar-15. I wanted to keep the m4 stock look but upgrade my furniture. does anyone know of any good aftermarket furniture companies that still look stock? I just want something that is tighter on the mill spec tube and the rest be really rugged. I need the set or pieces to be mill spec tube, mid-length hand guard, looks like m-4 stock furniture, and black. Also does anyone know a manufacturer of a vertical grip that mounts to the bottom holes on the stock hand-guard? I just don't want to put a rail on the bottom if I can help it, I would rather keep it sweet and simple. Thanks all!

If you want a buttstock that looks like a factory, standard M4 style stock but won't wobble. . . Good luck with that. The SOPMOD stocks wobble less in my experience, and get put on military issued M4s, so maybe that will float your boat. I'm sure someone is making a mid length clamshell handguard, so that shouldn't be too hard to find. I'm not aware of any vertical grips that are made to direct attach to the vent holes. Magpul does make a vertical grip that direct attaches to their MOE handguard, so if you can stomach the look then that's probably the slickest vfg solution for you. Good luck

Have you tried putting a piece of electrical tape on the buffer tube yet? It tightens things up some. Might tide you over till you find what you are looking for. But other than that, the magpul ctr, sopmod, and supposedly the battle link minimalist are all tighter.

You can find black ones in stock.

I've been wanting to change from an A1 to this, but it seems Foliage Green is a bit too limited to find any. They are in the hopper but ship dates have slipped for some vendors up to 7 weeks. Still none in stock.

The second half is likely a Gatorgrip or ALG Defense free float. It will go from conventional "dissipator" in style (rifle handguard) to competition oriented. And drop about a pound and a half.

It's not issue, it's a hunting rifle, and there's no reason to copy the administrative features like 4 feet of quad rail, or ugly furniture. Or, black.

Rainier Arms had a few colors in stock when I bought my stock, also their mil spec tube/spring/buffer is only $50 with purchase of a stock.

Yes, I had checked, SDE is all they have now. I suspect most of their stock is going on as the stock for their RUC Mod 2.

Ever since Magpul modeled the Ergo there's been an interest in that style, it's becoming the standard on more leading edge carbines as time goes by. The ACE Heavy Duty is another. Once we got away from energy intensive optics and thinking we needed parts at hand on the gun, the buttstocks have gotten a lot trimmer. No battery compartments, no shoving a spare mag in an awkward place, etc.
