I have two AR's, S&W M&P15X, and Colt LE6940. I am considering putting a Slide Fire Solutions SSAR-15 bump firing stock, www.SlideFireSolutions.com, on one of the AR's. From the web site and some of the videos I have seen the stock looks as if it will be lots of fun at the range. If anone has experience with this stock on an AR-15 I would appreciate thoughts, comments, and experience with this stock.

I really hate to admit it, but that looks like fun. How much does it cost? I'm asking because if it costs a couple of hundred, you could do just as well with one of the Geissele three gun triggers. It's just about full auto fast. I can get 3 or 4 rounds off in a second pretty easily.

Its 369 and the video is pretty cool

Couldnt you get a pistol buffer tube and slide a stock over it with a big spring in it and have essentially the same thing?

The problem with those bumpfire devices is they are skating on thin ice with the ATF and if the things actually work they are declared a machinegun, regardless of whether they have an "Ok" letter from the ATF. Just look up akins accelerator. The folks who bought those had to send the springs in and ended up with $1000 non-functional 10/22 stocks.

Looks like fun but I doubt after playing with it once or twice anyone would consider it money well spent.

This is like the 3rd SSAR-15 thread I've seen in a week. This needs to stop.

They technically don't make the gun a machinegun. The way they got around it is that one round is being fired for each pull of the trigger. The design is also within legal purview, but just barely.
That being said, everything about the SlideFire/SSAR-15 is firmly planted in gray area just as you pointed out, and I'm sure the BATFE will figure out a way to make these things illegal. I give it 12 months before everyone is forced to give these things up.

PURE JUNK.
Learn to shoot the gun. Things like this are just a way to part fools from their money.
Given the sales they've already had for this product, it seems like a specific part of the market really has embraced these things. Looking at the YouTube videos of goofballs with these things, I think I can pretty accurately categorize the type of people that this stock appeals to.
People can make their own assumptions, but I think people know where I'm going with this...

Is that 369 posted above the price for this thing? If that's the case, I'd definitely just get the Geissele three gun trigger. It's fast and a good piece of kit. Not a gimmick.

I'd imagine that they have sold a butt load of these things. They seem cool, but sort of remind me of those springy things that you could install on your trigger guard to get the same effect. Besides, I'm not replacing my UBR.

I tried it with my friend's new DPMS panther AR . I fired two magfuls. I had a hard time figuring how to do it though , ANyway i dont like it, i prefer semi auto aimed fire. To me, its a waste of bullets , spray and pray kind of thing. I d rather spend that money on ammo . Practice bumpfire with the finger instead.

The guy didnt ask anyone's opinion on if they think its cool or how else he should spend his money. If he thinks it looks fun then there is no need to berate him for it. If anyone cant answer his question then just move on.

JustinJ you seem to have a problem with anyone trying to advise others.

I guess you are right though. It is him money to waste. However there is also something to be said for learning from the experience of others. So far I have seen you voice your opinion about what we should and should tell people a couple times. But not once have you given your own qualifications for what you are saying.

"Learn to shoot the gun. Things like this are just a way to part fools from their money."

You basically just said he can't shoot and implied he or others who buy this product are fools. If somebody attacks me I will respond in kind. But insulting a guy just for asking a question or thinking something is cool says something about one's character to me.

"But not once have you given your own qualifications for what you are saying."
I back up all my opinions and thoughts with my reason for holding them. I'm not sure what qualifications you are looking for.

All questions are not created equal. All Products are not created equal.

he asked about a product that is Borderline legally and useless in practice. If this site is just about validating our purchases and talking about whiz bang gadget that serve no real purpose then the site has become useless for information purposes and is just the equivalent of the water cooler.

I don't know if he can shoot or not. However I don't know a single good and/or serious shooter who would ask about one of these items.

Also I am not talking about your reason for holding them. I am talking about experience that gives you qualifications to comment on the topics? Training environments? Military or police experience? Industry experience? Anything?

Much like my above statement about Questions and products. All opinions and/or advice is not equal. Qualifications do matter. Sorry If I have hurt your sensibilities but I could go onto a car board and make all kinds of claims about rebuilding an engine. If I don't have any actual experience doing it then I have no right to be telling people things. And before you ask. Yes I can back my opinions up with experience.

Kwelz, I had no idea know it was your job to determine which questions are worthy of this board? My mistake. The board is about firearms and firearms related topics and this post falls within those guidelines.

The product he asked about has the purpose of being fun to the poster. Many people shoot as a hobby and that is a good thing. The ability to receive input on a product before purchasing it is one of the primary purposes of these boards. If you feel the product has no application or poses legal issues then there are ways to communicate that view without coming off like a jerk. Unforunately the gun world is full of people with your condescending attitude which turns many people off to it from the get go.

In case you didnt notice, very few of us end a post with "I am right about this because I've done this and that". As far as my experience, I own Call of Duty for my xbox. That and I have extensive experience building and shooting numerous firearms and about those i post.

It is not up to me to determine whose opinion is valid and whose is not.
That is up to the person taking the advice. But that is where the experience of the person giving the advice comes into play. Sorry but not everyone's advice is as valid as everyone else.

Here is some advice in the form of a link.

If you got plenty of funds to finance this modification to your rifle and enjoy the fire out of it, by all means do what your heart desires. Because really, whether you can or not, this modification has no practical value other than pure enjoyment. It's a fair opinion I think, and I don't feel that anyone should be offended at it.

If you don't have the funds to finance this modification to your rifle, or you have to take out a loan on your firstborn, sell a limb, or something... then this is clearly an extra-curricular purchase and basic financial disciplines would agree with me. That's not an offense directed towards anyone, nor is it a discouragement to the OP not to get it.

My experience, the same as many of you. I have a family who I must account for physically and financially, this modification does NOT make fiscal or practical sense to me... or my wife :D

With that, a product like this one is the type that I and some others don't need experience with to make an opinion on, even if/when the OP is looking for an informed, perhaps even practical reason to purchase it.

@Kwelz and JustinJ: You both make valid points, I can't really tell why you both are arguing, but I suggest your favorite beverage and a peace pipe. :D
