AR-15 stocks

These guys are showing proper form for shouldering a rifle while standing. Whether it is an AR15 or a M1 Garand or a Winchester 94. Only the toe of the stock should be in your shoulder pocket, half or more should be showing over your back so that your head can remain upright.

Exactly... the stock placement shown in the pic is exactly how I was taught to shoot standing, part of the buttstock sits above the shoulder no matter what firearm you are using. I believe the idea is to bring the rifle sights up to your level in order to achieve consistent eye/cheek/head placement behind the sights.

Thanks for the replies and the info. I know a range where I can rent one and try it out. That's probably the best single piece of advice I've heard, though all of it was appreciated.

Huh...

I can see how that would work OK with a .223, but it looks like it would start to hurt with a .308! But .223 is what we are talking about here, and again, I need to go to the range and try it.

Thanks again for the feedback.

There you go. That was the point I was trying to make when I said you could do anything you want to the butt section of the stock and it wouldn't have anything to do with the buffer system, which stays right where it belongs.

Now, whether you actually NEED something like that...I don't know. Range time will inform me.

Thanks again for all the feedback.

My answer would be NO, unless you are wearing very thick body armor (like all the photos of the users on the website) and need a very short length of pull.
