I know one guy in my city (about a mile from me) who has a couple ARs in stock. He also have several stripped lowers. There is a guy in town here who actually produced AR lowers and sells them through the mentioned gun store. I picked one of the lowers up two days ago for a good price. The parts are around you just have to scrounge. Remember also check the little hold in the wall gun stores that many people don't know exist.

Why the 6.8? Everything that I hear about it says that it's not a 500 yard rifle, not accurate 500 yds anyway. I just had this conversation yesterday.

What's with dpms sporticals going for almost $1,000? The dealer here had one on the shelf for $979...they retail from dpms (and a few months ago) for $699-$704. Thats a helluva markup for a very basic rifle (still a nice rifle, don't get me wrong).

I shouldn't be talking though, I just paid a hair under $500 for two M&P lowers. I think thats only about $100 per lower more than retail. I hate paying that but what options are there at this point? k?Right now I basically believe buy what you can while you can. It's a better investment than stocks at the moment. If there is a ban, you'll be sitting on gold, if not then you'll have a nice collection...haha Actually if you pay attention you would be able to get your money back and break even.

P.B.-
Pete and Jodi at Legal Transfers have (or at least "had") some 6.8 mid-length Rock River uppers in stock for $524 shipped as recently as last week, as well as complete rifles. I placed an order for an upper last Thursday afternoon and it arrived on Monday. Couldn't be happier. Give them a call at (603) 967-4786.

PB: Where do you live? I didn't notice yesterday, but the dealer here has two RR 6.8s in stock.

The Delton site has about a bakers dozen of well known mfg's ad links. All of them are back ordered. I just ordered a Delton 16' flat-top with yhm flip up front sight and standard bolt/carrier group -has fwd assist-, non chrome lined barrel. $444.47 with shipping included. Will take up to 16 weeks for delivery.
I haven't decided on the lower though 2 on the short list would be a Delton, and the Rock River with adustable stock w/heavy buffer spring, and 2-stage trigger assy.
Very few complete Ar-15/clones out there using the 15 or so local FFL's and days of web searching as my reference, though some of the really high end specialty mfg's supposedly have some of their $2000 plus pieces gathering a bit of dust. Next issue try to find some ammo! I'll probably have to buy some dies and 5.56 brass for the ole' Dillon.
Good luck in any case.
