Are Colt 1911s good for the price?

I figured I would update all of you gentlemen. I actually found, fell in love with, and purchased my CZ P-01. It has made everything else a safe gun and it put the 1911 on hold.

Thanks again guys.

I have a 5" blue steel .45acp semi automatic that says Kimber on the side of it. It has never given me a single lick of trouble but my next one WILL say Colt.

my next one WILL say Colt.

And you will be pleased.

While we are showing off Colts, here is my Government XSE. About a thousand rounds at this point and never a single malfunction:

Now I want a 1911, because my collection feels like it is missing something. I want a Colt, but it seems like most people think I should either save for a Dan Wesson or buy a Springfield. With the deal Sig is having right now I may settle, but I still really want the Colt.

This says it all. Bugger what everybody else "thinks" you should buy. What YOU want is paramount. If they want you to have a Dan Wesson or Springfield so badly...then they can buy you one.

You've already got a decent little collection. Rounding it out with whatever else you feel like you want is perfectly OK.

All I can say is the two Colt Combat Commanders I have, one made in 1984 and the other in 2012 work perfect.

The work with any mag I have and shoot strait.

I have no complaints!

Yes in my experience Colt makes excellent 1911's. I have felt over loose ones though, but those were in no way new guns. Didn't Colt suffer from quality issues back in the 80's or something?

I've been more than happy with my 2010 model Combat Elite. It is tight without being too tight,(smooth may be a better word) accurate, and it shoots like a Cadillac drives.
