Are HK's just as reliable as Glocks?

I would bet those guys would have less of a hand each if the pistol was all metal. Might even cut right through it if a chuck of metal decided to leave the gun.

Back to the OP: You know it's good cause it's made in Germany; just like the Shamwow!;)

Only a single semi-auto pistol has earned NATO acceptance after objective and extensive testing for reliability under adverse conditions: CZ 75 P0-1..

Anyone who has handled one recognizes the great ergonomics of that pistol and anyone who has fired one recognizes their terrific accuracy!

End of discussion!

HAAAAAAR!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Oooohhh! A NATO Stock Number? That's unattainable by God!!!

Any NATO force outside of the Czech Republic buying it yet?

It is known to be in service with:

Czech Republic: Police (P-01 variant introduced in 1999)
Chile: Army (manufactured locally by FAMAE as the FN-750, bearing great resemblance with the Chinese-made Norinco clones and with the early Italian Tanfoglio TA-90)
People's Republic of China: Norinco has produced a copy of the CZ 75
Finland: Customs authorities
Honduras: Policia Nacional Preventiva
Lithuania: Police
Turkey: Police (several clones manufactured locally by factories affiliated with MKEK)
United States: various Police forces
Poland: Military Police (Żandarmeria Wojskowa), Police
Slovenia: Police
Iran: Army (possibly clones made in China by Norinco)
Democratic People's Republic of Korea: (백두산권총, "Baek-Du San pistol", named after the "White-Headed Mountain" on the borders with China)
Sudan: Army and Police (manufactured locally under license by the Military Industries Corporation, as the full-size "Marra" in 9mm and the compact-size "Lado" in .32 ACP

Nonsense,

CZ PO1 is the only pistol thet advertising itself by fooling around with NATO Stock Number...

ALL handguns that used by NATO are approved and well tested.

Good example is XD9 , HS-9 in Europe - is also got NATO approval and got NSN

I wouldn't judge a gun because it's owner has poor trigger disipline. I'd rather have less safeties (unneeded), and a speedy draw.

Copy that. Pistols are to be drawn and fired quickly. You don't want to waste time fiddling with safeties when you could be shooting. That is why many pistols have an extra long trigger pull for the first round (a sort of passive safety), but I like the consistant trigger pull and 3 true passive safeties on the Glocks.

I just bought my first pistol. A USP .40 HK. I rented and shot a the same gun and a Glock full size in .40. I paid an extra 200 over the Glock only because I shot better with the HK and I liked the way it fit. I am happy with my purchase but I guess time will tell.

You do grasp that some HK models are NATO approved (USP9 issued by the German Bundeswehr and, if I recall correctly, a couple smaller NATO nations). Likewise, the Glock 17 is issued by the Dutch and Norwegian militaries. Beretta has an NSN for the M92/M9, etc -- I like the P-01 a whole lot as a design, but earning a NATO NSN isn't a huge deal.

I'm an old fart now, but if I were going to Iraq or Afghanistan, and could use my own pistol, I'd be happily armed with a Glock or an HK (probably .45 cal for either, my choice). I would probably take a pair, with some common replacement parts, and about 12 mags, just so I never went empty handed, even if one crapped out. I believe they are both marvelous guns, and offer round count & weight advantages over the 1911. Here in the States, as a CCW, I prefer the 1911 as I'm not as concerned with guys with AK's pinning me down.

Glock, HK, Smith & Wesson, Ruger, Sig, CZ, Beretta, Colt and any other designer/innovator all make sufficiently reliable firearms. Without taking 100 units of each and conducting fire to failure tests on all in a laboratory under controlled conditions we will never know which is most reliable. All will outlast the owner given the proper care and maintenance.

I've asked this question before and have never received a response: Does anyone know of even one American police department that issues a CZ pistol as a standard sidearm? I pose this question with no malice as I own and like a CZ 85 but I'm retired le and I personally have never heard of a CZ being issued as a primary duty weapon. Just curious...

The MR556 will end up being the best AR ever produced by a pretty wide margin.

it will actualy be called the MR223, over here in europe we have them allready. :p

while it is a very very good AR type rifle, it also costs 3800 USD, for that price i can get, a SIG550 and and SIG551, both with happy switch and each of that Rifles still beats the MR223.

now, going back to H&K vs Glock ->

even after 5 pages, they are still about equaly reliable, as many many goverment/LEA tests have shown.

If Glock made an AR or some sort of submachine gun, they'll make a killing just from brand loyalists. Then to justify their purchases, owners will produce some ridiculous torture tests and start a viral campaign of reliability that will overwhelm and sweep any and all failures under the rug. And with the firearms industry skyrocketing, I'm almost certain that new models are under works as we speak. :p

Glock's are range toys and HK's are combat weapons, it really is that simple.

How many of these does Glock make?

Better yet, how many of these does Glock make?

H&K fanbois are so tedious. This is a handgun thread on an autoloader subforum.
