Are older commercial harvesting gauges now destructive devices?

I asked before, hijacking one of my own threads but there was no answer I believe. While 12 gauges are obviously sporting, are 11 gauges and larger magically destructive devices or are these still sporting? I'd eventually like to build a B gauge and I've googled the query a few times but didn't find an answer (usually my googlefu is strong and i find info easily).

like to build a B gauge
B Gage?? I don't know what that is.

But:
http://www.atf.gov/firearms/guides/...arms-verification-nfa-destructive-device.html

Notable Exemptions are:

> A shotgun or shotgun shell which is determined by the Attorney General to be generally recognized as particularly suitable for sporting purposes.

> An antique firearm, which all the market hunting guns are.

Since shotguns larger then 10ga are against the law almost everywhere for hunting.
If you build a new 8ga riot gun, it will not be a sporting firearm, or an an antique.

It will be a distructive device.

B is somewhere between 5 and 4 gauge and is exactly one inch. Bleh, DD. Guess I'll have to keep my eye out for an antique then. Thanks, you should turn your brain in to a dictionary and sell it so I won't have to do anything but turn to my bookcase.

. No remington makes a 3.5" 10ga semiauto that makes a heck of a turkey gun. Doesn't kick that bad...well except your wallet.

The registry is still open for everything except new FA's right? Form 1 and build what u want (just my opinion). Am I missing something? Isn't a DD the same process as any other title II home build?

If its the process yer trying to avoid, don't, its amazingly simple. The first time I saw a form 1 I thought "wow, I wish applications for sworn positions were this short". Seriously, the W8 is the only downside.

As for the big bores, I'm with ya, every time I watch "Judgement Day" I realize how puny my lil 12g is :(

Yup. I have an Ithaca Mag-10 'Roadblocker' as well as an 18.5" barreled H&R 10 gauge that I keep behind the door at home. Not cheap to feed and the latest 12 gauge super magnums are about the equal.

If it's a muzzleloader, even if you made it brand new, it would fall under the definition of antique.
