You can cast your own bismuth. It melts at 520 degrees, which is doable on a stove. It also doesn't produce harmful vapors.

Here is another thread discussing issues with the H&R Hastings 3 1/2 20ga slug gun.

Im sure it is just a flash in the pan but I can see the 28ga becoming more popular and the 410 becoming less as more knowledgeable shotgunners come into their own. The 28 is a better choice for youth than the 410 or the 20. It just suffers from lack of availability. It is much more versatile than the 410 will ever be but as was said before the 410 has a place as a handicap gun. I know I like it to hunt rabbits with.
