"common sense" rules regardi who can own, and carry?

If a rule is enforced by a Government, is it not by law?

Whose "Common Sense" should mandate these? Chuck Schumer, and his crew, or perhaps the United Nations' Small Arms Treaty being cooked up?

You say we only need the Second Amendment, but then you say the Amendment should be subject to some politico's "sense" of proper ownership.

Slippery, slippery slope toward loss of your right, when you agree to it being altered to fit someone else's definition of common sense. After all, many people in the media, think Hillary Clinton is the smartest woman in America.

Would you want Hillary's senses to dictate your ability to own a firearm?

Once again, those of us who tend to obey laws will comply with the "common sense" restrictions. Those who do not obey the laws will, gasp!, not obey the laws.

So, the "common sense restrictions" will affect those who aren't going to commit any crimes to begin with.

Ira:

Time was that you didn't touch the blunderbuss hanging over the family hearth until dad and/or grandpa got you thoroughly educated in how to handle it (or, perhaps, how not to....).

Today, it's the military, or maybe nobody....

That's the training issue....

It has to be engraved in stone, though - the NRA "Basic Pistol" course or some such. The last thing we need is Hilary telling us what's on the exam....

The tricky part is getting the exam locked down so the criminal-friendly types can't mess it up.

Regards,

Sounds like we need to differentiate between gun "related" laws and gun "control" laws. They are pretty much different things.

I can see getting rid of most gun control laws. The only law I would want is an exact differentiation between a gun and between destructive devices like high explosives and nukes. Not entirely sure if that is necessary, but you never know.

On gun related laws, I can see laws pertaining to lawful use and liability protection for lawful use.

Yes there are...

Like don't brandish a weapon without some risk of immediate death to yourself or another...

Don't discharge a weapon in ,"Public", without risk of immediate death or a felony in progress...

You know, all the city ordinances that should be common sense:banghead: :) ...
