Are we being watched by the gun manufacturers?

Definitely, they're watching. I'm a moderator on a BMW motorcycle board, and the folks from BMW frequently check in there. More accurately, most large companies hire someone to watch these things and distill the information for them. Most don't participate openly in the discussions because, as mentioned by someone above, they tend to become lightning rods for disgruntled customers . . . it generally turns into a no-win situation for the company.

My business is related to firearms and I have offered discounts on a couple forums to get my product in the market. I think it is an excellent way to see how your product will be accepted by potential customers. That being said, I find that it is hard to get the feedback from satisfied customers which I think is just human nature. If you are not satisfied you are more likely to express that. I have also set up a Facebook page hoping to get customers to post photos and comments about their experience with our safe and that hasn't really happened yet. As a small company, I don't have much of an advertising budget so I depend on more word of mouth than anything. This forum has been an excellent tool for me and we have sold quite a few of our handgun safes with the discount code offered here. With that code I can see just how many we sell as a direct result of this forum. I thank THR for giving me the opportunity to participate on this forum and the customers we have as a result.

Any company that manufactures and markets goods to end consumers uses data mining. It's just a fact of life in the manufacturing world.

So why does Remington Golden Bullet .22 suck so badly?

My first guess is because it's the cheapest manufacturer that they could find. Crappy as they are, they're still flying off store shelves, and that will continue until better product is more widely available at competitive prices. Then, and only then, we will see a possible improvement in the RGB. :)

Read this, S&W (Safe-T-Lock).

I won't buy one of your current powdered-metal, Hillary-holed guns that won't even make a shoe for my grullo.

Get forged parts back, and no MIM! You shouldn't have used sleeved barrels either.

And if MIM is just fine, why do you still used forged parts in your PC guns?

If the firearms Manufactures are not reading these forums than they are missing a terrific chance to receive a great deal of free market research.

If Ruger was watching, they would have brought back the SRH in 480 Ruger at least in as a limited production item. Mr. Ruger, lets see the Alaskan and a 5.5" along with the 7.5 and 9.5" models of old. I don't think they're listening and they certainly aren't paying much attention when they cheapened up their 10/22 design.

I suspect Remington pays attention to the 22 GB discussions. But they are essentially the same thing over and over again.
