Are you excited for the Glock 43?

I haven't see the actual gun, but have had easily a half dozen single stack 9's and the Kahr PM9, is as large as I choose to go. If it's larger than that, then I will stay where I am, as it has been a loyal side kick for 5 yrs now.
I have a 26 and a 30 S, and both of them require a holster, if I am looking at wearing a holster, "other than a pocket holster" that is a whole different conversation, as there are many more choices that come to mind including a dozen that I have already own, that hold more rounds and aren't a heck of a lot larger.
I look for either concealment as in pocket carry, or weight and capacity as 9mm is as low as I will go, and I require 10 rounds as a minimum for a holstered sidearm.

I took my 43 to the range last Friday and fired 200 shots thru it. It shot perfectly 100% of the time with no issues. It's my first Glock and I really enjoyed shooting it. I really like the factory sights all though I am going to change them over to night sights. I like the feel of the trigger and it fits very well in my hand. It is very comfortable to shoot.

Disclaimer....I'm not an expert or judge of guns because I also like my Solo CDP, DC, Sig P938, XDS 9 & 45, Mod2, Shield 9 and all of my other too many handguns I own.

I went to LGS to get one. After close examination of G43 I came back with "Grandpa's Ole' Reliable" that cost $200 less....

Finally got to hold a 43 and compare it to a 42 and 26.

Right in between them as for size. Real easy to pack in appendix position.

I'll no doubt get one one summer gets here in Texas.

They wanted $550 for it.

Orion, having had 457 and 457s I'm fond of S&W pistols. Not small about size of CZ-83 with magazine capacity of 12 cartridges. Many of those old S&W pistols are true bargains of used gun world.
The G43 is small light pistol, but I didn't think it is better then the 'Shield', PPS or XDS. The Glock had tag of $539.

With LE pricing I'm very interested.

I was an XD guy until I was issued a G22. After thousands and thousands of training rounds down range Glocks became so natural for me it only made sense to keep all my carry pistols as similar as possible. Off duty I'll either have a G27 or G19.

The only exception is a LCP that's pocket carried as a BUG on duty. Never cared for its horrible trigger or sights but it's there. A G43, if it can be pocket carried would be a great replacement.

There is no Austrian unless you mean German with Austrian dialect. It sounds like Spanish or Portuguese.

Saying it's Austrian is a joke. You really don't know? La Lengua de Cervantes? Your handle is Pablo, I say Mi tia and you don't know?

I just had a chance to look one over at a local gun shop. It was nice, and if I didn't already have a 9mm single stack, I might buy one, but as it is, I feel no urge whatever to replace my Walther PPS with it. The only advantages over the Walther are a push button mag release, which I prefer, and a slightly lower bore axis. I can live with the Walther's paddle, and the bore axis isn't so much lower that I'd probably notice any difference. And the Walther has a better, more ergonomic grip, plus 3 different size magazines, which gives me more versatility. Glock is surprisingly late to the party on this one, which puzzles me. They waited until after Walther, Springfield Armory, Ruger, S&W, Bersa, Kahr, et al. had pretty well saturated the market with this class of pistol. Sure the die hard Glock fanboys will go for it above all others, but that leaves lots of people like me, to whom the Glock is merely one of many really great gun designs, who already bought a single stack nine long ago, and see no benefit to changing.

Yep, I probably would have opted for the G43 but already have a single stack 9mm. Glock waited too long to let the ship sail.

This is the single best thing that has happened in firearms history, ever, period.

Looked and handled one Friday at a LGS. MMMPH. Not particularly impressed. Thought the trigger pull heavy and stiff for a Glock. Just did very little for me.

They got three in last week and still had two. Said lots of lookers but only the one taker.

When I finally looked at the price tag I put it down quick and walked away.

They wanted $669 for it. They are the most expensive place I know of with in an hour's drive but still......sheesh.

They are selling for $499 here...and selling fast. When I see them under $450, I may pick one up. Would love to add another Glock.

If people are happy with it then great. It just doesn't seem to do anything that other guns don't already do. I wonder how many people realize that the SCCY CPX-2 is smaller and lighter than the Glock 43, is about the same width, holds 10+1 rounds and only costs $220.00

SCCY CPX-2
Caliber: 9mm
Barrel: 3.1 in
Length: 5.7 in
Height: 4.0 in (without mag extensions)
Width: 1.0 in
Weight: 15.0 oz
Capacity: 10+1 Round

Glock 43
Caliber: 9mm
Barrel: 3.39 in
Length: 6.26 in
Height: 4.25 in
Width: 1.02 in
Weight: 17.95 oz
Capacity: 6+1 Round

I guess you could argue that the G43 has a much better trigger than the CPX-2 but for 45 bucks you can put a Galloway trigger in the CPX-2 and you've still spent way less than what folks are charging for the G43.

The CPX-2 is just an example - there are other guns out there that have been doing the same thing already. My CM9 has a decent trigger, is smaller and lighter than the Glock 43.

I don't see a Glock 43 in my future. If I were going for that size factor in a 9mm I think I'd get the Shield, a Kahr or the SCCY.

I shot the 43 last night and I shoot it better than any other single stack 9mm. The guy that owns it shoots the Shield best and another guy shoots the XDS best for what its worth. It is noticeably lighter than the shield and as well the grip is enough shorter to to make it more possible to pocket carry. Compared to the PM9 the grip is the same length but the Glock has a little less above the grip(lower bore axis) so it could be a little easier to fish out of a pocket but the PM9 is enough shorter to make a difference if appendix carrying.

The 43 that I was shooting has a PROBLEM that has been reported by others. The Magazine can be inserted in such a way it binds up and will not seat, could be a real problem in a crucial reload situation. The owner said that it can be fixed with slight filing of an internal part. So for those who want perfection out of the box beware and try inserting the mag at 52 angles to make sure.

We put 350 rounds of 115 and 124 grain and it ran without issue.

As someone who owns a 43, SCCY, and a shield and used to own a Kahr I can say that the SCCY and the 43 are not good comparisons. I love my SCCY and it is my go-for-a-walk-around-the-neighborhood gun. It is a bit thicker and more importantly to me it carries much thicker Than the 43. I loved carrying the Kahr, but mine was one of the (many) lemons and their customer service really ticked me off.

The best comparison IMO is between the shield and the 43. The 43 is a bit lighter and the shield carries an additional round. Size-wise I can actually carry the 43 in my Hidden Hybrid holster made for my shield and it's a really nice fit.

For me, I prefer my 43 because I like the "glock angle" and the trigger better than the shield. I like my shield and it isn't going anywhere but the slightly lighter weight and the glock-esque ergonomics make the 43 a winner for me.
