Alright, I am a big admirer of Arnold Schwarzenegger for his achievements in bodybuilding. He had one the best physiques of all time, if not the best. He has been an inspiration to me in this way as I am sure he has been for just about every other guy who has ever picked up a dumbbell.

As Schwarzenegger made a name for himself in movies, he built an entire career more or less on playing action heroes. There are other actors who have been famous for playing lead-hosers but Arnold has got to be number one. He has probably fired more "rounds" on the screen than any other person before or since. His entire persona is completely based upon the use of guns.

But as governor of California he never did anything to overturn the socialist gun laws in that twisted upside-down state. He could do this, if he wanted to, but he doesn't and I doubt he ever will.

Does anyone know what his actual positions are on guns? How he actually feels about them?

Does he shoot or hunt? Does he carry? Or does he have the typical European attitude towards guns, being a foreigner, and not understand the American gun culture (even though he has said that he always thought of himself as American first?)

Some people don't know this but Arnold was actually in the Austrian army for a while. In 1965. He went AWOL later and was punished for it. What rifle would he have trained with in the Austrian army at that time? Did they use the FAL back then?

he has never really made them public and has flip floped alot on them... Some times for being pissed off at proguners( micro stamping) others for making deals.

It saddens me to say this, but Arnold is an anti.

He signed the 2010 microstamp handgun ban and the lead ammo ban.

I've lost all respect for the guy.

No he can't. The Governor of CA cannot overturn or pass laws by himself. I am glad that Governors have limitations (think about Blago)

He wouldn't anyway, while he says he is "pro-gun", he is anti semi-auto ownership, larger caliber rifles, regular-capacity magazines, and shall-issue concealed carry.

Remember that he is married to a Kennedy, lives in Hollywood and rubs elbows more with the leftist elite than any other groups. The fact that CA is in dismal financial shape and he needs to pander to Obama for money isn't going to help gun-friendly causes in CA

you can't really blame that on him.

He did have a special election, where every single one of his ideas was voted down by the people of CA. Hell look at the last election, how many bonds were passed? you know the ones we don't have the money to pay. Its very simple, the people in CA want programs, they just don't want to pay for them.

Number two would probably be Sylvester Stallone, and three would be Bruce Willis.

Arnold tends to use actual machine guns (the kind that are typically mounted to a stationary point) so he's definitely number one in terms of sheer rounds fired.

Arnold is a typical politican ! and a fraud . I bet he owns a semi auto even though he doesnt support them . Total hypocrite

Arnold was one of the biggest reasons I became a bodybuilder (once upon a time, in a land far, far away). In my opinion he was the best that has ever been.

As a politician I believe he is a leftist masquerading as a conservative and doesn't like guns anymore than any of the other leftist elite. Just my .02.

He is European

He is not a strong conservative, make that a conservative period.

Look at his wife.

This was never on his agenda.

He doesn't have complete control over the Cali legislature by any means even if it was on his agenda.

Actaully in many ways he is a conservative, just not GOP...

his stance on prop 8 was a pefect example of him being conservative, but not a GOP member.

I watch him all the time when I workout(Arnold music videos on youtube) and I admire him but I also hate his decision on guns, along with Styvester Stalone, Jodie Foster, Bruce Willis....you name it.

I hate it when all these actors use guns in all their movies and then fight to ban guns. Stalone has his freakin picture on the Brady website.

He's been pretty mixed. He signed micro-stamping, but he's vetoed a bunch of other bills we didn't like. He seems to be someone we can work with on some issues, but he's not going to always go along with the pro-gun side.

The Arnold was a tank driver and if I remember from the book his dad had to pull some strings to get him put in a tank. They only wanted small guys.

I was living in kalifornistan when he won the recall election and we knew back then he was no friend of gun owners.

A reporter asked him what he felt about the existing gun laws and he said, "We need to close the gun show loophole." What an ignorant statement.

There is no "gun show loophole" in California. All gun sales must go through a FFL.

Then he signed into law AB 2222 which outlawed 50 BMG rifles. That was so the gangbangers could no longer carry the 35 pound rifle with ammo that cost $5/round underneath their hooded sweatshirts. /sarc

He's a RINO and will blow wherever the political winds go.

Arnold is an ACTOR. Actors use whatever prop the script calls for. Actors are not the same people in real life as the characters they play on the big and little screens.
I also seriously doubt that Gunnar Hansen was ever into hacking up Texans with a chainsaw.
Keep telling yourself, this is only a movie.

I'd say folks like John Wayne, Roy Rogers, and all the old "westerns" acters fired far more rounds than any of the modern-day action film stars. If I am counting correctly, Schwarzenegger only made like 19 action movies in which his character used firearms. That is a drop in the bucket compared to folk like Roy Rogers; who made (again, if I am counting on IMDB correctly) over 100 western films plus at least 100 TV show episodes. Heck, I'd bet that even Chuck Conners fired more rounds than Arnold in his career.
Don't get me wrong, I like Arnold's flicks....I just don't expect him to be a gun advocate, anymore than I'd expect him to be a two-handed broadsword advocate.

Two minutes' worth of screen time in T2 with a minigun puts Arnold in a class of his own, as far as rounds fired on screen go. 100 westerns' worth of single action army revolvers and lever action rifles can't hope to match 4,000 rounds per minute in one scene. :D

"Arnold is an anti."

Not really. He's more your classic elitist in that area: guns OK for him, not so much for others. He does own guns (or at least did), and is/was fond of his Desert Eagles. Back in the day, he enjoyed shooting. He also enjoyed smoking pot and other activities all swept under the rug of the image he's created for himself now. Don't know what his personal gun status is now, be he was well known for owning them and shooting them "back in the day" and I know various people who knew him well. I have met him several times but only casually.

That's actually over 200 (movies and TV shows). Have you ever watched an old Western? They usually fired 20-30 shots before they even reloaded....aren't movies wonderful? :)
Bottom line, with a few exceptions, don't expect actors to be anything like their movie characters.

Arnold owns guns. Friend of Gaston Glock. Signed the microstamping bill because he knew it would NEVER be implemented. Signed the Condor Area, non-lead bullet because of a personal issue betwen GOA and DFG.

Yes Elitist is a good description. Yes he still owns guns just had to move all but one or two out of the house for safe keeping. You know those Kennedy's think guns sprout hands and legs and go off by themselves durring full moons :p
