Yes, I agree. But based on what we do "know" from the news report, it sounds like this was a good bust. It also sounds pretty sketchy, and I will want more details before passing final judgement. I am skeptical of the guy because of his violent response to the police and his possession of a hand grenade (which I admitted in my previous post that I feel was probably an inert grenade that is being blown out of proportion).

I think that the details of this are going to be necessary to make any real judgement call, but based on the report, it sounds like this guy is at least a little bit of a dirtbag.

Non sequitur, since the BoR represents the law of the land and the BoR provides protection against unreasonable searches said search by definition would be illegal.

Legal doesn't equal reasonable.

BOR does not represent the law of the land, it represents the rights of the people against laws the government may try to pass against the people.

Based on the report is the key phrase here. Please keep in mind that news is entertainment and the phrase 'if it bleeds, it leads' is far more a consideration than accuracy. A second, though lessor consideration, is that people tend to find what they look for. These detectives where looking for criminal intent, their perceptions may have been clouded by that intent.

If you don't understand that the Constitution and BOR represents the rights of the people against the government, I don't know what more I can say...

The papers said he had a hand grenade, not a word if it were a 'live' grenade. Had it been functional the report of it's destruction was noticeably absent in the news report.

the one report says they blew the grenade on site

I use the premise that the law is designed to protect the rights of people as well as insure a peaceful society. It's quite possible our understanding is far better than either of us suspect. However, to come to that understanding would require defining the office of laws as we see them. A task that this is not the forum to do.

a thought.....correct me if i missed any details in the article in regard to this. nothing was mentioned about "assault rifles", "cop-killer bullets", "hi-capacity automatic pistols(i.e. semi-auto pistols)" etc. none of the usual suspect bogus terminology was used in the article. what kind of firearms did he have. you know if there had been any of the aforementioned, it would have made the national news. i surmise there were none. soooo......involvement in criminal activity surrounding guns?.....what brand of criminal activity exactly? is there a black market for hunting rifles, revolvers and black-powder guns that i'm unaware of? again, just an observation.
