Here is a link to an interesting article on Politico, apparently, mentions of the term "gun control" on television, in newspapers, and in online media are down to pre-Sandy Hook levels, including Twitter. I think this is a very good sign that the media's gun control push is starting to run out of steam. Its a little bit of good news that I thought I'd share. Still it goes without saying...if you haven't done it yet, write your reps, and make a donation to your chosen gun rights group, we still have a fight ahead of us.

Good news indeed, but be not lulled into a false sense of security my friends. This is the time to remain active and resolute.

Im not sure what to think of that. I still have little doubt that the anti gun people will make it a top priority soon. The 'committee' led by Biden is still going to happen. And the turncoats have already stated their opinion. But clearly the media hype has moved on to brain tumors, fiscal cliffs, and dead Syrians.

The Third World Banana Republic house and senate theatrics going on this moment in Illinois are unfortunately a preview of the things to come.

Anyone else note how much wider (longer duration) the "media mentions" spike is compared to the Twitter mentions (supposedly a measure of what people are actually interested in)? It sure seemed like the media was "echo chambering" (you know, propagandizing) out of proportion to reality; glad to see there's a shred of evidence supporting my observation.

I love these little data-crunches on Nexis and the AP, since they often reveal, through odd phrases and word choices, just how much politicial/economic news is plagiarized or parroted verbatim from the Authorities.

As far as it dying down now--don't worry. They'll find a way to bring it to the forefront again once it suits them. I was kind of hoping the catalyst would be the record (by a wide margin) number of murders in Chicago, since that's at least something deserving of outrage.

Dream on. They are coming... In a month most likely. Ask that old lady from California at the federal level and the house speaker in Taxachusetts as an example at the state level.

"Ask that old lady from California..."

Hey, that "old lady" is somebody's mother ... oh, just threw up in my mouth...

Sorry for offending anyone. She's too old to work diligently as a public servant, by my standard. I should have been more specific: that old senator from California. Oops, IMHO of course.

Someday I can be called an old man. I'll be smiling because I have lived.

I would like to believe that with the mass surge in gun buying panic, us THR's writing our reps, and the help of more pressing matters to the nation that the issue has subsided a little.
Still doesn't mean we should let our guard down, Stay Frosty...

Cuomo has been talking about confiscation, permits to by ammo is being proposed in Ca and a ban on everything is being attempted in Illinois as I type this. Let us not forget about D. Fenstein and her marvelous piece of legislation she promised to introduce this week.

Barn, interesting note. I did notice, for example, that a couple bands I followed made sensationalist comments (i.e. "I am a gun owner but I'd give up all my guns to save just one kids' life") but that subsided right after the tragedy and was mostly about emotion.

I've also noticed that pro-gun articles have been increasing in the wake of Sandy Hook.

Agsalaska is 100% correct, though. State legislatures are looking into the issue, and there's stuff being drafted at the federal level. The media may be dying down, but the government is still in the fight, and we need to be vigilant.

Yes, this fight is still on. The gun-grabbers in state and federal governments are still trying to pass these new restrictions.

But they do this every single year, and we fight them every single year. It's just starting to look like they aren't going to be getting the surge in support they were hoping for.

An attempt was made on gun rights here in Illinois this afternoon.
It died, lack of support by both Democrat and conservative lawmakers.

The media operates on predictable cycles. The shooting in the NorthEast was more than two weeks ago, old news by media standards. Most editors can't remember what state it was in, much less the name of the town or how many killed.

There will be more mention, though, as the end of January comes and our Dear Leaders gun control panel concludes and offers recommendations. And soon after there will be a push to pass whatever is recommended, no matter how draconian or irrational because Dear Leader sees everything he wishes to do as a mandate due to his retention of the office.

The Whitehouse and the DNC will send their faxes to their propaganda arm err I mean the mainstream media when they are ready. And then the drums will beat just as loudly as they did immediately following Sandy Hook.

We will see news pieces giving the other sides slant on all of it. We will see video that is disturbing and has yet to be released. Remember how the media stopped showing images of the World Trade Center falling because they were too disturbing and they didn't want to bias the American people towards Muslims?

Well there won't be any such moratorium about images of murdered school children. We will be forced to relive this nightmare again and again on the nightly news and in the news magazine shows and the cable news outlets because it fits an agenda the media wants to push.

It's not over yet, not by a long shot.

They may have had a trial balloon shot down in Illinois today, but believe me they learned from that, but not the right lesson, they learned other angles to try. They learned that public wasn't shocked enough to roll over yet. So prepare to be shocked.

I heard on Special Report with Bret Baier tonight that there were many republicans ready to accept gun control. We have a lot of work to do.

I heard the same thing. To add to it, while there are still more repubs in the house, there are fewer of them now than before.
Write your kongresskritters!! Send donations to the NRA or your favorite pro gun rights organization NOW!

"Gun control" HAS survived Christmas. In fact, it is just getting "revved up"!

These CRETINS here in Illinois have already passed multiple bills out of the Senate Safety Committee to the full senate that, if passed, will even ban pump shotguns & rifles, ANY rifle with a detachable magazine, INCLUDING the Remington 7400.

This is all being pushed "downstate" by the #@$%&!! in Chicago!!
