Well,

I just checked my various horses with the rubber grips, which,

By the way I like a whole lot, and

Nary a scratch nor a scuff nor a scar.

And they have all been shot a fair bit.

So I don't know, might be that

You have one of those "pimple on the ass" Q.C. deals.

I'd be interested to hear what others have to say.

It's purely cosmetic, but only if you are using certain non-factory grips.

I don't see reason to be alarmed.

I don't see reason to be alarmed.

Does not change the fact its a ****ty design that eventually will cause damage to the frame cosmetic or not.

Easy to say that about a pistol that is not your. :D

That minor cosmetic blemish would be invisible in comparison to the honestly acquired "user wear" I put on my serious guns.

To me, it's a total non-issue.

Just realized they don't make Hogues for the compacts:eek: But it is a nice, thin option for the fullsize, as there is zero palm swell.

From looking at your pictures it appears to be a normal wear pattern from the grips. I will be happy to exchange the grips for a new pair.
Just send them to our P.O. box or street address, with a note and I will exchange them for new.

CZ's reply.

Mike the gunsmith of CZ hung up on me when I asked for clarification. He agrees 100% that the grip has caused the damage and that the divot is not normal but refuses to address it in anyway.

CZ is going to lose a customer over this one.

I thought cz frames were fully heat treated, not spot treated?

You could have it rockwell tested w/ a peen or two...then have some knowledge about where, or what is, or is not soft.

Either way it's your call...

Sorry to hear about the wear under the grip, but the original grips ROCK! I will only take them off to replace them with the same thing only new!

You are correct they are alloy framed compacts which but the fact remains the material of the frame is softer than the ****ing steel insert inside the grip panel. :banghead:

Gotcha, but still softer than steel, right?

I guess CZ's view is that the gun is designed to be used with the factory grips, and therefore there is no defect. Whether you agree with that or not is a matter of opinion. Seems like changing the steel tap on the grip from steel to polymer or aluminum or some softer material would cure it, but I'm not sure. And if CZ has 18 million of those grips at an assembly warehouse, it may not be willing to make the change.

It looks like our friend Rella is gonna have to return those grips, because I wouldn't use grips that show that divot, either. Anybody else have a source for different CZ thin grips that Rella could check into? A custom maker, perhaps?

I am keeping the grips... but I might put them on my PCR which does not show the same damage.
