I'll be visiting Arkansas in March, and was wondering if a non-resident can buy a long gun under state law. (I have a C&R license, if that matters.)

I'll be at the Sherwood Convention Center gun show March 4-5. Can anyone tell me what to expect as far as the size and quality of the show?

Are there any gun shops in the N. Little Rock area that carry military surplus rifles? Thanks!

In a word, yes.

You will have to comply with the laws of Arkansas and your home state.

edited to add: You'll have to buy from a FFL, who may not know the laws, so you may have to shop around.

As far as i know out of state buyers can get long guns here. I'm not familiar with north little rock so i can't say where any good shops are. If you want to know for sure if you can buy one here just find a phone number for a gunshop in arkansas call and ask.

I'm from Missouri, and don't have any problems, but I don't know if it's just a border state thing. Are you from a border state, you didn't say.

If you have copies of your C&R and are just looking for C&R stuff, you should be golden wherever you are.

As far as I know, long guns are fair game for visitors to AR. I've never been to the show at Sherwood, but may go this time. There's also one in Poplar Bluff, MO that same weekend. So, at the present moment I don't know which way I will be headed.

Don's

I don't know the rules here on buying long guns re: non-residents. But for guns, I like Don's Weaponry on Broadway (Highway 70) in NLR. Take I-30W from I-40 to Broadway, go east about 2 miles through the ghetto, just across a large railroad crossing, it's on your right. His stock changes a lot, so I won't guarantee he'll have what you're looking for, but he's probably your best bet in central AR.

Thanks for all the replies, guys.

Red Tornado - I'm not from a border state. Alaska actually.

I haven't been to any gun shows outside of Alaska in twenty years or so. Really looking forward to the show in Sherwood.

Jimmie - I'll likely check out Don's Weaponry while I'm down there. I ran across his website a few weeks ago while surfing the web. Hope he has some milsurps.

Chilly, You may have more trouble buying a handgun than long gun. Either way, you'll have to send it through somebody with an FFL to a dealer in your state with an FFL regardless if you buy it through a private vendor. If you are wondering why, you may already know that it has to do with Canada. I hope you enjoy the visit, there is also a Show in Mtn. Home Ar. that same weekend.
