In response to Jesse Jackson's plans to organize a nationwide rally against our way of life on August 28th, I am pledging now that on that same day I will purchase an AR-15 along with several hundred rounds of ammo.

This is the fight, right here, right now. The MSM is sure to cover Jackson's efforts with great fanfare, the hearts and minds of many indifferent Americans may hang in the balance. The time for passive, non-action is over. Gun owners by nature are independent, and much like the rattlesnakes that inhabit our country: never looking for trouble, but always ready to strike. Now is the time for a message to our enemies.

We are here. We love our way of life. If you are going to come at us, we are going to come right back at you.

How many of us can rally at our local shops on August 28th? Which group of freedom loving, gun owning Americans will show up in such force that the event will get coverage from their local media? How many millions of dollars can we spend on this one day to show the country that we are a unstoppable force, and that the 2nd Amendment is alive and well in 2007? Who will join in the fight?

Who will spend the day on THR posting messages?

This is it folks, this is a battle. The opposition is going to take a swipe at us. Whether they make any noise that day or not, so what? The point is that they are ready to battle. We must be ready to battle. Jesse Jackson and his Rainbow Coalition want to take this fight to a national scale. 25 cities. Marches. Speeches. LIES. These actions can not go without response. They can not be the only ones to get their message out.

What can we do?

Start by buying a firearm on August 28th. I am.

Bring it Jesse.

Well, I don't have the funds for a gun right now, but I promise I'll go buy some ammunition that day. ;)

THR might not be the best place to post messages, though. Perhaps the "off topic" sections elsewhere on the web (in a non-gun related forum) would be better. Gaming sites, automobile websites, pets, knitting -- wherever else you lurk and post. THR is great (as are the other fora I frequent,) but we need to get the message out to people who are on the fence.

I will also visit my local gunshop on that. I agree, it is time we let our voices and actions be heard.

HRM... Yeah talkin it over with the wife. Next firearm I want is going to cost me $$$. So this will take me some tap dancing :D

maybe we can sponsor a contest

in Illinois to give a free guns to a black person, and we buy them at chucks gun store.
Jesse Jackson would love that.

My birthday is July 23rd. I think I'll have to hold off buying myself a Bday present for a few weeks.

But, what to get? I'd love to finally get a Colt SAA, but that's not happening this year. Hmmmm, what a pleasant conundrum.

I don't know

why not ask Jesse Jackson?
And what about Puerto Ricans, Chicanos, and Asian minorities living in poverty

Maybe Puerto Ricans, Chicanos, and Asian folks just are not killing each other enough, gotta represent!...YO:neener::evil:

Heck YES!!!

I will buy a gun on August 28th - that's my friggin birthday - what better way to celebrate my 40th birthday that to buy a handgun?

Maybe a .40? Too coincidental? I already have a 45acp so my 45th birthday will need to be something different!

Great suggestion!

There will be many handgun buyers in Missouri joining you on August 28. That's the day Missouri's handgun permit repeal goes into effect. No more paying the county sheriff $10 and waiting 3-7 days for a state permit.

Many Missouri residents are holding out buying handguns until August 28 if for anything just to celebrate :)

I'll mark that on my calendar. I'm wanting a Ruger 10/22, so maybe it'll be just the ticket to check on my favorite dealer and see if he'll have it in stock on that day, and pre-order if not.

Ha! At some point this system breaks down. I'm already on the far side of fifty, and find myself less and less tolerant of recoil as the years pass. I can just see myself at the range on my 60th birthday with some humongous Nitro Express rifle... at least I'll save money on ammo... don't expect I'll get off more than one shot before having to call it a day

sorry--i could not wait. that saiga .308 just called to me today so i got it today. i will think of the rest of you on august 28th.:D

Oops. There's a thread in the Activism section. Ignore the inadvertent hijack I had posted here previously.

My birthday is the 26 so I'll by myself a late B-day present. I'm low on funds so it may have to be a cheap $150 Mil-surplus gun, but I'll do it.

I just looked at the calendar. That just so happens to be on my day off. Methinks I'll be visiting a gun shop to see what may strike my fancy.

Another idea would be to all of us write a letter to the editor of our local papers that week about how we love our sport and our country and are good law abiding citizens.

I have wondered why we don't send out more press releases for our various competitions to get them into the papers and maybe try to get coverage on local tv news (even a blurb about who won). Maybe people do that already and it doesn't get printed or said on air.

August 28, 2007 Buy a gun day

This Missourian is waiting for August 28th for the same reason posted earlier. Thats the day that the "Castle Doctrine" goes into effect here and the repeal of obtaining a permit from the County Sheriff.:)

might as well...

I've been low on funds as well, but I've been wanting to get a Glock 32 for a while now (compact, 357 sig chambering). It may as well be on August 28th. Ah Jesse Jackson, he really inspires people to act doesn't he?
