Hello all, I just picked up a beautiful Austin and Halleck 420 rifle that is currently configured to use percussion caps . Does anyone know of a source for a conversion breech plug for a 209 primer. Any experience or opinions on the performance of this gun using percussion caps would also be appreciated. This is my first black powder firearm so any advice will be welcome, thanks, daV.

breechplug

Is that a one or two piece breechplug. If it is two, you only need the small nipple that screws into the main plug. That is what mine has, but I don't have any spares.

My buddy found a good deal on a pair of 420's several years back, so he bought them both. He offered one to me, and I bought it from him.
It shoots great, and is a good looking gun. However, I decided that I am not an inline type of guy...traditional sidelocks for me. My son used it last year during m/l season. Probably never fired over 75 shots. It has a nice set of rings and good figured wood.
Don't know if it can be converted to 209. I would consider selling it if anyone is interested
