I miss gun shows in this time of virus

I miss Gun Shows. I am living in California. Gun Shows are a treat here because there definitely aren’t as many as there used to be.

The week that all this CoVid 19 government control kicked in the sign for the Orange County Gun Show at the bus stop right down the road teased me every day I drove by it. The show was cancelled but the sign remained for weeks. We only have one company, it seems, that will even bother promoting shows in SoCal. Crossroads of the West Gun Shows. I definitely miss them, even though the shows here are smaller than they used to be 15-30 years ago I still love going to them.

Luckily I have an LGS locally that I like going to and there are a few other LGS that can cover my needs, plus we have the internet, but I do miss my Gun Shows.

So the shows will remain closed. Anyway, I personally wouldn't go to one until and unless I had a vaccination under my belt. (I'm 75 with some medical conditions.)
I, too, have high risk factors. So, precaution is well merited.

However, I'll give you even money the various governments will begin opening trade and related shows by September--unless we see another major outbreak.

As to vaccines, I'm less than sanguine. We still do not have a SARS vaccine, even after 17 years. The one developed a decade ago actually caused more problems than it solved (including some deaths), so that "emergency" vaccine was withdrawn.

What will likely occur is that we will see reliable antibody testing (as in very reliable, near 100%), and likely by August. (That a/b testing, if it hits its preliminary numbers will actually be almost 75% more accurate than the current PCR test for the virus.)

As a 66 yo. chronic heart patient I too am at risk though I feel I have a better chance of dropping dead of a heart attack than dying of this virus. I even started working part time at a local outdoor gun range as a range officer. Though that doesn't mean I'm going to go out an sit in a crowded bar either.

And, on top of that, the population of elderly, grossly obese people with their motorized wheelchairs and oxygen tanks (in my experience, over-represented among dealers and attendees)

Wow! A lot of hatred here.
I don't know where you attend gun shows, but i seldom see any disabled people with mobility aids.
I do recall a vendor in a manual wheelchair who displayed for many years, but he was the exception.

But I guess that in future they should ban the elderly and the disabled people from attending or displaying since they offend you so much.

Wear a mask if you shop at Walmart or any supermarket. Probably the most likely place to catch the virus or any flu. My brother in law wasted a year at a Walmart as a greeter and caught the flu 3 times a few years ago.

Off the rails. Does every thread have to go to Covid?
