Battle of the Tacticool 22's

A stock 10/22 can be plenty accurate. Mine is at least as accurate as any of my other .22's, providing I feed it with its preferred ammo, which happens to be cheap Fed. Am. Eagle. I got my Rifleman patch at Appleseed with it, and it will easily shoot into 1" at 25 yds. The only upgrades you need are Tech-Sights (HIGHLY recommended) and a good sling. Since you are scoping it, you should be able to do even better. As mine is an older model, it also got the extended mag release, and I modified the bolt catch tab. As with most guns, the sights, the ammo, and the shooter are the limiting factors.

With that said, I still wouldn't discourage anyone from buying a "tactical" .22. They are loads of fun.

I'd get an ATI Omni complete lower receiver and put one of CMMG's dedicated .22 LR uppers on it. That way if you want to, you can put a center fire upper on the same lower. It shouldn't cost any more than the other options.

You can build it with any AR lower... I just suggested the plastic Omni because it is cheaper and because there is no issue with durability on a .22.

Though you didn't include it in your selections, I'm very happy with my Colt M4 .22LR. I've also fired my buddy's M&P15-22 on many outings and like it a lot as well. Since I'm an AR guy I like the AR style tactical 22s and the S&W operates very much like an AR. I wouldn't pay the cost of the other two models listed since I could just go with a 10/22 or Marlin 60 since to me the whole point is to have a .22 that operates like your primary rifle.

I also like the idea of a .22lr upper on a real AR lower but eventually went with the Colt because you could get a complete rifle for the cost of a good .22 upper.

Thanks for all your input folks!:D

But I've decided! I've got a 15-22 on layaway, I was gonna just save the money and buy it when I had the cash but my LGS said that they only had 3 left. And they probably wouldn't survive the Holidays.

Thanks for all your help THR.

NICE!
