I ordered from Bayou a couple weeks ago simply because they showed in stock inventory on 30 carbine bullets. Now when I check order status it says something to the tune of order awaiting fulfillment. I get that times are tough and that sales volumes are much higher than normal. Am I wrong to be getting frustrated with this scenario since the whole reason I bought from them is that they showed inventory? I don’t want to cancel and be further down a waiting list somewhere else, so I’m going to ride it out, but it’s somewhat aggravating.

Well .......

Yes and no

I will say the egg is on their face due to an innventory issue on their in, I went through same thing with some 1911 parts I needed for a vintage colt government I just bought. In stock and next day I get a email from the owner saying we have not had these in forever our site was not updated. Rats

Now onto the "you" part of the question, as I don't know you and that stuff I will just say this. If you knew you needed it and waited this long to acquire it then you brought it on yourself and proceed accordingly. If its a recent need then wait it out.

I am not buying a 38 super colt 1921 at the moment due to brass and primer availability. I may miss out on the deal of a life time but I will not own anything that lives in a safe for long periods.

Fair enough assessment on the “me” end. I have had the gun for a few years and have never really gotten serious about loading for it. Every time I went to buy proper bullets money would go to tires, brakes, new dishwasher... I have ordered from other places and have been thoroughly impressed by products of other makers, but this time I chose to buy what was in stock because times were getting crazy and I wanted to buy before it got wild. They showed current inventory, and now I’m sitting here waiting for a product that I have never tried from a maker I have never tried and would not have tried had their information been accurate. I would have just bought from Missouri again and waited feeling comfortable that I was waiting for a quality product.

I ordered bullets from Bayou when they claimed a 4-6 week delivery. By the 4 week mark, that had changed to 8-12.
My bullets came in at the 9 week mark.

BBI seems to be keeping up, I don't know how. Too bad they don't have my moulds.

That’s reassuring. If it hits the 9 week mark it should be around Christmas. I need to look and see when I actually placed the order.

I placed an order with Bayou Bullets Sept 2. They said 8 to 12 weeks at that time. I got an email that said the order was shipped yesterday. That is right at 12 weeks. I do not know how you found an item listed as in stock on their website. Every time I have looked at the website it says "all orders" are subject to the delay. I do feel your pain. I found bullets I wanted listed as "in stock" at Titan reloading. They were not. After 2 months they finally fessed up that they did not have them. Apart from bullets, I have ordered a couple if fairly big ticket items including a replacement fan for my RV and a Scroll saw from Home depot that were listed as "in stock" and I got an email each time that said they were "shipped". But not true at all. And the tracking number just did not provide true information. It is tough times in many areas. You tried to buy a replacement freezer yet? If you find one you better sit in the store with it until they deliver.

Why not read the home page which you agreed to when placing an order.????

https://bayoubullets.net/

I have read and understand the statement above.

I understand that I may not receive my order for an estimated 12-14 weeks or longer.

I understand that my credit card will be charged when my order is placed.

I understand that all sales are final, and that I cannot cancel my order at any time.

They are not god and that statement does not lock you in..... dispute the charge and cancel the order of need be.

No one can make you pay for what you don't want. They are not a bank nor government bodies.

That’s not the issue. The issue is breezing past all the highlighted warnings about how “ nothing is in stock” “ 12 week wait” and then complaining when you don’t have your product immediately shipped to you.

Get frustrated for 5 seconds, then shrug it off. In the best of times inventory control is a nightmare. We’ve gotten complacent about how easy this internet ordering is, push the add to cart button, enter your CC info and wait for the shipping confirmation. There was a time where you filled out a paper form and mailed it in an envelope!
If the bullets you want are available from 10 suppliers and 1 of them is habitually terrible about inventory and getting them to you, then you’ll probably not order from that supplier again. From what I’ve seen, in these times, all 10 suppliers are having issues. The answer is Covid. It doesn’t matter what the question is.
I’ve done a lot of business with Bayou, they’re top notch. I had a really large order and thought I had put the sizing information in the notes but they didn’t make it. Dennis just re-did the order without any questions. I’d wait for the bullets if I were you. Good luck.

I've ordered from them twice in the last 4 months. The first time took about 6 weeks and I'm about 4 weeks in to the second order and fully expected at least 4-8 more.
So yeah it will take a while, but they definitely were up front about it.

It says on their main page, on their checkout, and at order confirmation that they have a huge backlog and there will be a wait of several weeks. That wait time has grown from 4-6weeks a few months ago to 12-14 now.
They also have a disclaimer on their home page highlighted in yellow saying they are out of stock on all items, but are constantly in production and filling orders.

They've had this info posted for months. You must have overlooked it when placing the order.

That was not the case when I ordered. It is now. And it showed in stock on the 500ct but out of stock on 1000ct so I bought the 500ct.

Well, maybe it did and I missed it. Maybe I linked into it from google and somehow bypassed the warning. I’m not sure. Oh well, the wait continues.
Definitely a possibility of the direct link. I think initially it was just on the main page with a note at checkout.
They are quality bullets though. I wish i'd ordered more the first time. But I'm just trying to forget about them and i figure they'll get here when they do.

I hate to say it, but if you find a reputable vendor willing to take your order at non-crazy prices and you need or want it, place the order and get in the queue.

Havent bought from bayou recently, but ordered from everglades and MBC. The everglades we lucked out and caught a couple k 9mms in stock, MBCs my other big order and been waiting on thet for a month or two now.
With the amount we shoot in a sitting were always out of ammo at some point, so i just dont worry about it anymore. When it shows up great........

Ill say this tho, its been a really frustrating year. While i dont get mad at ANY vendor, i do get frustrated at having to wait.

My last Bayou order took over 5 weeks, and my last MBC order took 8 weeks. They're all trying to keep up with orders, and say so on their webpages. I don't like that they charge my CC immediately when l place my order, but not enough to not continue ordering from them.

Just saw this. I need to check out their inventory, but their bullets have an oily film on them so I had stopped ordering from them.
BBI seems to be keeping up, I don't know how.

I am at 9 weeks on my order and tired of waiting. They need to hire more or better help or figure out how to work faster if they have been this way for years. Acme bullet is keeping up and shipping. Prices are more or less the same. They do not need to charge your CC at the order date, but at shipment.

Order from Acme yesterday. shipped TODAY!!

PS When you charge someone's CC and then make them wait 8-12 weeks you are borrowing money that someone else (buyer) is paying the interest on. Pretty shady business practice. Charge a $10 deposit and rest when shipped.

My last Bayou order took ~18 weeks, so definitely longer than their stated times of 12-14 weeks. But they are up front about there being a long wait time.
Acme only sells what they have on hand, which is why they're shipping faster when you order. Whereas bayou is continually taking orders and running full tilt manufacturing to fill them. It would be a bad business decision on their part to expand manufacturing for what will be a temporary increase in demand.
I'm happy both of them are selling, and I will continue to use both of them. There's nothing shady about what Bayou is doing. They're up front about charging your card and about shipping delays. Even though their time frame may he a bit optimistic.
