Lightweight Commander and a 332 TiLite - unless I am going to a bad part of town or traveling, then a P16-40 with .357 Sig conversion (soon to be 10mm) and Benelli M1S90 with a side saddle in the truck

BigSlick

Full size 1911

And it's not an "occasional" thing. That is my only carry option (got a couple .22's and a 5 3/4" .357) and the only option I'll consider. He ain't heavy, he's my brother (and I've got a good holster)!

Areas that respect Washington State/New Hampshire CCW:
* Glock 19 and/or Glock 26
* Keys
* Pens
* Leatherman
* Loose change
* Random slips of paper, receipts, etc.

California:
* [No firearms. :barf: ]

Chris: I really carry an infernal Glock in an IWB holster, along with two spare mags, a j-frame .357 in a pocket holster, two HKS speedloaders, a Benchmade AFCK and a multi-tool. I've been carrying the same gear everyday for the last few years.

"Gearing up", to me, is dependent upon individual mindset.

I suppose that once you've been involved in situations where a 5 shot j-frame would have been inadequate, you begin to think differently...

Hi, I recently aquired both a cz rami in 9mm and a colt detective special II .38 for the sole purpose of warmer weather CCW. At work ( where I'm not allowed to carry according to company rules) I have the colt with all 6 rounds in my right front pocket folded in a bandana all day long. When I am out and about I carry the CZ RAMI in a HBE Pro IWB . Both have become routine for Me which is what I was hoping for . Still take the CZ40B to the range with these 2 new pistols but most practice is done with the rami and the colt . That will probally change for the rami when it gets colder and the .40 comes back on line .......................WVleo

about 60% of the time i carry a sig 229 in 40 in a galco fletch.
the other 40% it is a s&w 637 in 38 in a galco hi ride.

i like carrying the little smith better, i feel more reassured w/ the sig on my hip...

Interesting thread. I do think many carry a small snubby a lot of the time. My most recent has been a Sig P228, but often I carry an HK P& PSP or CZ PCR.

However, as summer comes, I've been eyeing my wife's S&W 642. Its just a neat, light, little gun that can go in my front pocket.

My "everyday gun" is a Kimber Compact Stainless in a Milt Sparks SS-II held up by a ~ten year old, ~$10 leather belt purchased at the Arts and Crafts fair in Burnsville, NC. Spare mag in my left front jeans pocket.

Sometimes I carry my 5" Classic Stainless, my Polymer stainless, or my Colt 1991A1 the same way. Although I do use a different holster. A Milt Sparks SS-II, for a government model;)

Sometimes I carry my Kahr PM9 or Taurus 85 ultra-lite in a jacket pocket, they dont fit into jeans pockets very well. I'd say about 5% of the time. Less now since I almost never wear a jacket.

I've had to move to pocket carry pretty much exclusively so I have been carrying a 642 in a Sparks PCH-R holster since February. Along with this is a Surefire E1E if I am out after dark or going someplace I am apt to need a light like the movies, a phone, and of course wallet and keys. I usually also have my tactical man purse in the office or car that has other odds and ends like a multitool, Surefire 6P, camera, meds, 1st aid kit, PDA, checkbook, compass, lighter, etc.

I think that carrying a Commander IWB in a VMII is preferred but I suspect that is what has caused my current hip/nerve problem that I am trying to get diagnosed and fixed. I don't feel any less undergunned as I typically do not go to areas that are very dangerous. If I did, I suppose I would probably carry OWB but being in South Florida, concealment is a real challenge, esp. since summer is upon us.

SP101 or Rossi 461..mostly the SP.
although I'm flirting with the idea of getting a Glock 26...
I'm just too short and fat to carry a full size gun comfortably :uhoh:

95% of the time my CCW is a S&W 642 or 649 and a speed-strip.Rarely I'll carry a See-camp .32 or a 1911 depending on circumstances.tom.

rop by anytime dude - you'll always see Mr SIG - any time of waking hours!

Course depending on the time of night you may not get to see Mr. SIG from the friendliest end. :D

I suppose that once you've been involved in situations where a 5 shot j-frame would have been inadequate, you begin to think differently...

Absolutely true and for me personally I have never been in a situation that required anything more than a knife or flashlight. It truely is all about perspective. For me though I want to have a firearm handy at all times and I want it to be easy enough for me to make it so. Hence my like of small snubby revo's because I really feel they offer the best size to performance tradeoff.

One other thing I like about snubby's or any revo for carry is I always wipe down my guns after carry and to do so with my semi's I always clear them for saftey. Eventually I have to worry about bullet setback etc. With the revo's I dump em' wipe em' and load em' with no worries at all.

I guess I have leared I have have a little old school gunslinger as those five and six guns are just kinda elegent in a utilitarian way to me.

Chris: I understand completely and believe your preference for the j-frame is well warranted. In fact, I myself have opted for the little j-frame, out of convenience, when I'm forced to venture into the nanny state. Its easier to unload and store a little 5 shot revolver to be in accordance with the federal transport law, compared to a bottom feeder and spare mags.

I hope you never find yourself in the situations that I've had,
which have all occured in L.A. (lower Antioch), at night, BTW.

I only own one model of handgun. I carry one of my P220's strong side when I'm not at work.
