My barber told me he acquired a Belgium 37 pistol in Italy during WWII......Couldn't bring it home. He said it was the most beautiful gun he has ever seen.

I didn't think to ask him if it was a pistol or revolver.....He is not a gun person by any means. He had to give up the gun before boarding the ship to come home.....I guess it made an officer happy.

I've never heard of a Belgium 37. Has anyone heard of it, or was he just mistaken..?

The term Belgium covers hundreds of thousands of handguns, with out more information I couldn't say. I've never heard of it but then again there's a lot of things I had never heard of. :)

It's hard to say. Did he say why he was calling it a "Belgium 37"?
You wouldn't believe how many folks really think there's a "Glock 9" simply because they hear it said (usually television) so often.
Did it sound as if he didn't know much about firearms in general?

37 could have been the manufacture date if stamped on the pistol. Heck, Belgium 37 could have been stamped on some Hi Power's holster and assumed as the name.

Good luck with this one.

My barber has no interest at all in guns.....The only reason the subject came up was because he knows I'm into them.....

He would probably pick a nickel plated RG over a blue 1911 Colt ;)

Thanks Gepid....

I found a picture of this on Gunbroker and see if this is what he's talking about..

I can't imagine him thinking that being the best looking gun he has seen.

Oh well, we're all different. ;)
