Beretta 92FS Inox or Baby Eagle?

Alright guys, I've narrowed it down to these 2 guns for my 1st semi-automatic. Going with 9mm. Can get the 92 Inox(not the stainless trigger,etc) brand new for around $560 total or the steel Baby Eagle for $490 new total.
My gut tells me the 92 is the better all around gun and deal. Something about the baby eagle is calling me though. I have not fired either one of these but have held and like the feel of both. Not in a situation to "test" them out in my area, unfortunately.

What do you think?

Do NOT buy the Baby Desert Eagle. They are major POS guns. Much too heavy and just aweful.

The Beretta 92 is a classic representation of a great firearm.

adamsean, how the hell do you know the baby eagle is a pos? do you own one? i have a .40 semicompact and it is a great gun. have had atleast 500 rounds through it with no problems. best of all i only paid $350 for it. there is nothing wrong with the baby eagle except for people who think they know about them and talk trash about them...

Have to disagree with the guy who said the Baby Eagle is a POS. A good friend of mine owns one, and he's never had any problems with it. It is heavy, about the same weight as my Sig P226, but slimmer. It's a great shooter, and feels really good in my hand. Personally, I don't think you can go wrong with either gun, unless you get a lemon, so my advice would be to pick the gun that feels best in your hand.

I have owned two different Baby Eagles individually and I have many friends still using them and I am still waiting to see a BE which falls into POS cathegory. The only reason I do not still use them is the backstrap of my CZ offers me a firmer grip. All the BE pistols I have seen and used have been rock solid and reliable pistols.

Unfortunately, I can not say the same thing for the Beretta. They are almost the most handsome pistols ever designed, accurate and utterly reliable eating anything you feed unless one of their parts are broken. I achieved to brake one slide stop lever, two locking blocks of a BD date coded Inox 92F. After a carefull examination, we found that the locking recesses of the slide were not cut properly. There was a considerable amount of gap between the front surface of the locking block ears and the front surface of the recesses of the both sides. This artefact was causing inproper locking and producing much more rigorious forces to handle for the locking block ears. If you have a chance to compare this area with the original design, P38, examine the relation of the parts, you will observe much more definitely what I mean.

Local Beretta distributer ignored the artefact, and sued me abusing the pistol by using overpressure submachinegun ammunition. Consequently, I sold the pistol to a local shooting range with a considerable amount loss of money, since I did not want to risk anyone's life by selling a defective pistol to him.The local range also continued to experience locking block breakages. The total amount of locking block breakage is 5 times and slide stop lever breakage is 2 times in approximately 21K rounds, despite the recoil springs are being changed regularly in every approximate 2-3K rounds.

My personel experience with the 92 series caused me to loose my confidence with them as a self defence pistol. But I still do like the design. It has elegant lines, a joy to hold and to shoot. Maybe it was a seperate lemon that may come out from any manufacturer, but the issues I was experiencing were not sporadic ones limited to my pistol.
If the pistols you are considering will be range queens, go with the Inox 92FS definitely.
If you decide on the 92, I strongly advice you to check out the front locking surfaces of ears of the locking block, their proper fit to the slide locking recesses and the amount of the gap between them.

I think the BE are great guns. I owned a 9mm compact sold it to buy something else. (regret selling it now of course)

The 92FS would be a better first gun though IMO. More after market support, and cheaper mags being few reasons.

Baby Eagle a POS? Are you kidding? I have handled and shot two in my life. They are a bit heavy, but they operate sooooo smoothly and were so accurate....mmm...loved it, and built like a damn tank. It's like the perfect combination of Ruger-like toughness with Sig-like smoothness.

You can find a baby eagle for much less than the price you have listed. Also, they are no POSs whatsoever.

Baby Eagle, Baby Desert Eagle, UZI Eagle, Jericho, CZ75 clone...whatever you call it, they are reliable & accurate pistols.

Issued to various Isreali defense & police forces for over a decade, I know of no known reliability issues with the pistol.

The Baby Eagle is probably one of the most rock solid autoloaders out there. They are also an impressively accurate little pistol.

I own many 9mm's, including a Pre-B CZ-75 and an Inox 92FS. I would choose the BE over the others in a heartbeat. The only other one that compares for reliability, durability, accuracy and ergonomics is the S&W 5906.

I'd put the two side by side, one more time, and either you do a complete disassembly of both, or have the clerk show ya how first, then you do it, and which ever you like best, after that, if they equal out in the ease of disassembly, inspection-cleaning, and reassembly in your mind, then go with what feels the best in your hands.. simple.

The other will be around for your next gun purchase.

The BE in 9mm was one of the first guns I bought out of High school.

I still have it.

I will never sell it. I have owned dozens of Berettas. Sold most, except for a few for collecting purposes.

I absolutely love the BE. It shoots great, feels great in my hands and is build like a tank. I have about 10k trouble free rds through mine.

Only reason I don't carry it on a daily basis is the safety. I am used to guns with no active safeties. HK P7 fan...

As I have both the 92FS and two CZ75Bs, I have to chime in here and say, Get a CZ (not a clone)and then get the Beretta . The CZ has better parts and accessory availability than the BE, and the CZ customer service is top notch, all for the same price.

In my neck of the woods the Baby Eagles cost as much or more than the CZs. I've used and owned the clones. I'd rather have the original: CZ.

92 is a different story. Have you looked at the Taurus 92 AFD? You can carry cocked and locked and still have the decock feature. I've owned 4 since 1981. I like Berettas, but I prefer the Taurus. They didn't have to add a slide block because of metalurgical failures that resulted in cracked slides back in the mid 80s. SA triggers are also very good. I just bought the latest one this past Sunday.

I wouldnt knock the beagle by no means, i almost got one myself but got my beretta at a good price. The shop i bought it was trying to diis the eagle mainly bc they dont sell them lol and were probably trying to get me to pick up something then and there. I'd love one of those brushed chrome BE .45s, those are bad
