Beretta 92X Quality

I have Beretta 92X, and never had any problems. Shot all kind of ammo with different magazines capacity from 10 to 30.
Looks like you got the lemon.

I too am done with Beretta.
Well this is disturbing! I'm buying a 1911 pistol for my first 9mm handgun. I live in New Jersey and I can't have any gun whose magazine holds more than 10 rounds, so I'm safe with a 1911. I'm getting a house in Pennsylvania, so I don't want another 1911 with its limited capacity, so I was considering a Beretta -- I like its size and other features. But if it's not going to be reliable, I'll steer clear.

The guy you quoted did not complain about reliability at all.

If you want that 1911, I'm not stopping you. But it's laughable to think that you have a better chance for a reliable gun by buying a 1911, especially in 9mm.

I'm a 1911 guy, but I agree it would be unlikely for the average production 1911, especially a 9mm production 1911 to be more reliable than the average Beretta 92.

the take away from this thread should be the opposite. The OP has owned and shot many 92 series and has had a problem with one. The over whelming opinion seems to be they are plenty reliable. Making myself a "fanboy" I suppose because I too think they are a well made pistol.

I never said they were not reliable. In function every one I owned (I admit most are older) has worked flawlessly regardless of ammo I fed them. My issue with the 92X performance was with shoddy initial fitment and even worse support after the fact. In the past, out of the box I'd trust a Beretta more than most every pistol made.

Their out of box quality since they lost the military and moved to new digs has been very sketchy. I should say I still have and will not be selling any time soon any of the Beretta pistols I own.
Say what? How did you install that Taurus barrel if you could not get the slide off with the original barrel? This just makes no sense.
I could EVENTUALLY get the slide off by whacking it with a hammer.
