Beretta 92X Performance vs Sig Sauer P226

I've found both the Beretta and the sig to be 19-29 per mag from time to time for factory mags. Both made by the same place too. They are pretty darn close looking actually.

Prior to the Rona break out, I was buying USGI M9 mags for $8 to $10 ea. Not happening right now though. They look similar but the Sig mag will not fit in a 92FS. I just tried it. The Sig ones I have are old zipper back ones, I think I paid about $25 ea for them. The Mecgar mags are good and I understand they are a subcontractor for a number of mfgs for their mags.

Mine are .40. So I pay a bit more than the m9 mags. They certainly won't work in each other. Seems like maybe they were a bit fatter in one. I did check just to see one time. Mecgar and checkmate are the ones I have. Both made factory mags.

Came across a 92X Performance today and made it mine. Feels heavier than expected, but I will withhold judgment until a shooting session. I will say the trigger is sure nice in both DA and SA modes. I will be shooting it alongside my 92FS that has a spring kit installed for comparison.

I look forward to the comparison. A good Beretta is a bucket list item for me.

I have owned a number of Sigs including a P229 in .40, a P227, a P226 x5 tactical and several p226s all in .40. I like the Sigs but don"t seem to hold on to them. I esp like the way the 226 fits my hand.

Recently I was looking at Berettas including the 92X, and the 92 Ltt. But ended up buying a Tanfoglio Elite Limited. Along with the Berettas I was looking at the Sig 320 X5. I guess I'm just partial to Tanfos.

I like the Sig 226 myself, but I do like the 92x a lot more than the other 92s I've shot.

Not that they are bad by any stretch, just a preference.

I have always preferred the Browning style, on the frame safety. When I built my 9mm Major gun I chose the Taurus 92 platform because of the safety being on the frame. Then I picked up a W. German made Sig P226 with the 20 round mag grips and mags and the 92 went into the safe and stayed there until the son wanted it. I finally had a Deputy want my Sig worse than me, so I got out of the 9 business, totally.

I grew up shooting Beretta 92's/Cougars, Taurus 92's & CZ 75's. (Always loved shooting my Beretta's but preferred the Taurus & CZ's frame mounted safeties best.) I have always loved the feel of these frames the most. However they are just tough to conceal & have all but gone away from large frames & only have one Centurion, a 75 & 2 Cougars.

So today I looked at 92X Performance...I think I "need" one in the near future...they are finally that perfect 92 I always wanted.

I narrowed my choices down to the Beretta 92 and the Sig Sauer P226, but I had such a hard time choosing between the two that I gave up and never bought either one of them.

...when you should have bought both of them. :) I did and I like them equally. There's just enough difference between these two fine pistols that it might really just come down to personal preference in terms of how each gun handles and fits an individual shooter.

Shooting comparison report...
Surprisingly I chose my enhanced black 92 over the performance model. Keep in mind I had made some enhancements to my black 92. The 92 performance was just a slick as advertised and very smooth. My problem with it was the weight. I am a big guy but 3 pounds unloaded plus a mag of ammo gets tiring fast. The brigadier slide makes the performance pistol feel a lot bigger. I loved the sights etc on the performance. In the end I decided to choose my black 92. All that being said...my plan is to acquire the black 92X and compare it with my 92FS. Just handling it in the store the 92X with the slimmer grip feels better and without the weight of the performance model.

As I mentioned up thread to the OP
The 92X Performance is a "gamer" gun. The SIG line-up equivalent would be an X5.

I must be too old to know what a gamer gun refers to.
It's a gun designed, with a very narrow focus, for competition "games".

The gun is not designed for the concealed carrier, or as a duty gun, or for home defense. You could use it for those purposes, but Beretta offers other models that are better suited for those uses.
