Beretta Pico...again

I'm really puzzled about the Nano-is-junk trope. I have heard the rumors on the forums, and there must be some genuine issues since even Beretta fanboys are mixed on the gun, but mine has been flawless with over 2,000 rounds downrange.

That was a stupid comment about the Nano being junk, but I don't think it rises to the level of a "trope." It's not a claim I find on other forums, even from people who don't care for the feel of the gun. The Nano definitely doesn't work for me over my PPS, but it's undeniably a very well-built pistol, like just about everything Beretta makes (except for the Tomcat). The fact that it is and/or was oversprung for bunny-fart FMJ range rounds like WWB doesn't change that, even conceding that this is a legitimate complaint. I've never seen anyone complain about its reliability with self-defense rounds at all.

If someone calls the Nano "junk," they've basically just outed themselves as someone not worth listening to. I mean, the guy who made that dumb comment here spoke as if the Glock 42 -- which is wider than a Walther PPS and significantly larger than a Kahr PM9 -- and the Pico were in direct competition. Not everyone here has a sophisticated take on things.

That is nice Voo-Doo that you have one lined up! talked to my LGS Bud and on my way threw the front door he said the Pike"oh OH" yhea ,I seen it was available yesterday. I said are you sure he said lets see looked it up but it was not available as of now. I replied and he cut me off as he stated the price (selling for!) anyhow how I said around $399.00? he then replied $360.00 to $375ish.(my price). He did comment on how he thought the gun looked to him. well anyhow I told him il have to do a lil more research. He said let me know! I replied thank you brother. (New business, niece fella!) picked up a 2 round extension for the 42 also that goes w/the pinkie extn. HAPPY HALLOWEEN! John

Well, I have one on order which is a back order from June of this year. Stopped at the LGS and confirmed with my guys that it *is* on order and to see if they had heard anything from their distributor about shipping or availability. That was no....but I was told if they were shipped, that if distribution started Thursday the distributors prolly wouldn't see a gun until Monday or Tuesday of next week and that he'd not get a heads up they were being shipped to *him* for a couple days after that. So I'll remain optimistic (again...been waiting 2 years now. :uhoh:) until this time next week. The LGS owner has one on order for them to put in the case for sale on my asking about them so I hope the gun is not disappointing.

In the mean time I'll just get to the range this weekend and shoot some pix of the rebuilt Colt Pocket Hammerless I picked up Monday and maybe load up some more .380. Just in case...:D

Some regular dude on Sigforum brought one home today. You should have it soon, I'd think!

what's the going price for a Pico? I had forgotten about it and am glad to see it finally hit the street, an upgrade from an LCP? we shall see :)

Believe $399.00 I think im going to jump on that offer from the LGS dude and just put a Hundred down! Im sure its out there and you will have yours soon. He spun the computer monitor around and showed me a pic of it. P.S. that 2rnd. extension w/pinkie ext. looks kind of hokey on my G42 but hell of a grip!

I may not be a total expert on guns but I do know IT. If anyone in IT who is in a position of power to make final decision goes and deploys 1.0 technology, they would not be in IT or a position of power for very long.

:what:
Seriously? I don't know what universe you live in, but here on earth we get 1.0 and 0.9 crap foisted on us all the time.
Microsoft is only the largest and most obvious offender, but buggy software gets into production All The Time.

Oh, wait, were you being sarcastic? Maybe you were being sarcastic and I just didn't get it. Apologies if you were being sarcastic and I didn't get it.
:scrutiny:

I'm seeing some reviews now...one of the Mods on the Beretta Forum did a nice write up with pix and stuff. I have seen another that had problems right off the bat and a failed firing pin but we'll panic when we see a plethora of that kind of thing.

I haven't heard a word on mine.

First one of us gets one give us a "Yo!" and maybe a pix or two and range review. I'll get mine and try and get it to the range the next weekend. Got a bunch of .380 ready for testing it. 100 rounds of factory and 200 rounds of hand loads.

Just got computer back.one of the hard drive's crapped out! There went my new gun? NOT!!:D I'm going to procure! Just to RE-LOAD!

This one better be perfect out the gate! There's probably not a lot of room for error with the popularity of the well established Ruger LCP and the Glock 42. I'm guardedly optimistic. The Pico has some cool features like the caliber conversion ability. It seems pretty darned small and light.

Owning a Glock 42 and having shot quite a few .380 pistols (and passed on the LCP because it's just too snappy for me/my Wife) I think the Pico will be successful or fail on it's ability to be reliable with a variety of SD ammunition, it's size being the thinnest .380 offering, and how manageable it will be in shooting.

We passed on the Ruger LCP and bought (and really like) the Glock 42....my Wife's preferred SD pistol because she can accurately place rapid follow ups due to the soft shooting nature of the G42. The Pico, being smaller and more concealable will have huge appeal if it can duplicate this concept and remain manageable and soft shooting in rapid fire.

Time will tell...but I predict a winner for Beretta if they have kept the Pico as an accurate soft shooter and a loser if it is a snappy little beast like the LCP - As already stated, the LCP and G42 and both huge thumbs up winners in the .380 market and the Pico has to be more than just smaller/thinner.

Was at LGS and ordered one up! Word is I was to late for the first batch it went out already. Paper work and all will be $400.

Gunwatcher listed $360 as the best price. I've no need for one but I do fancy guns that are small for their caliber, so I suspect I'll pick one up eventually when I find one at a good price.

BUD's has them $366.00 I figure with ship and then the rest of it $400.00 sounds about wright.( But not in stock)either.

Checked out Bud's but apparently they are only available to some special members....Only available to "Team Bud's" members and that's an additional $29 or so. They get 72 hours pick of the litter so I'd guess they will be available to the general public by the weekend.

I'm not finding a lot of these in stock so I'm gonna take a deep breath until about next week at this time. My LGS tells me they are gonna have 'em but be patient. I'd rather get it from my LGS's distributor but I'm gonna keep looking around. I'd love to be the first kid on the block with one but after waiting two years?

I settle for getting one at all.....

Edit: Just checked on this listing again at 4:27 pm Thursday 11/6/14 and this pistol is now available without restrictions on Team Bud's membership! :)

Davidson's was promoting the Pico on their TV show on The Sportsmans Channel last week. So try their "gun genie" website and they might even be able to ship it to your local dealer.

My LGS had one in today when I went by. Salesman showed it to me. I did not fire it but first impression was the grip is way too slim and narrow front to back. The extended mag is so long when I bring the pistol up to eye level it is pointed down. Not a natural feeling grip. Slide was extremely difficult to rack and very difficult to operate slide lock to hold open. None of us could drop the slide using the lock, mag in or out. Trigger was terrible. I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade but I was very surprised and disappointed with what I saw and felt. I really don't care for small frame pistols especially in .380 and this one did not change that.:(

Super thanks for your impressions....I initially was certain I'd never warm up to the Glock 42 but, unlike you, I do like my tiny hide out pistols and learned to love the G42 very quickly. Like the older Beretta 22.'s and 25's and such I find they take quite a bit of getting used to and training to be accurate with them *but* this is the price we pay for extreme.

This gun is the thinnest (touted to be the thinnest) most concealable .380 to date and I'd be surprised if the gun didn't have some failings for some folks....especially for folks not fond of nor experienced with extremely small pistols. I have small hands for a 6' 3" man and that might make a difference.

Or I'll find that it really does suck and I'll eat it or re sell it. My Wife and I shot every pistol we could rent or borrow looking for concealed carry options and the ones we couldn't test via rent or borrow we bought to try....the Pico is the last on that list for me. Wouldn't be impossible that it was just another gun I bought, shot, and went "oh well, not for me!" and then sold/traded. This is probably the root of my impatience with getting my hands on a Pico - it's the very last gun on a very large list and I'd like to complete that journey.

Vodoun,
As I said I don't want to rain on anyone's parade but I was not impressed at all. I'll bet your hands are bigger than mine.;) I used to hear all the flack about LCP and LC9 triggers. They were terrible! They are smooth compared to the Pico. The Glock 42, on the other hand, has a lot of potential. If I was a .380 fan I might have to get one.:)
