Still new to reloading and need all the help I can get. Trying to decide on Berry's plated 45 230 grain RN ($141 per 1000) or precision delta FMJ 230 grain RN ($130 per 1000). What's everyone's opinion on these guys?
I like PD as they are FMJ and being new to reloading I worry about messing up the plating on Berry's. Take into account PD may be back ordered. Took about 2 weeks to receive them when I ordered a month ago.
With the shipped price of PD and Berry's being so close I'd go PD. I say that nearing the end of an 18k order of Berry's and contemplating my next bulk order.
I have shot both and both are good, you can't go wrong with either. I think both offers trial packs so call them and order some and see what you think. They are both good people to talk to.
Note that the PD bullets must be ordered in qty of 2K, 4K, 6K, etc..
So you are really spending $260 for 2K at the low end vs $140 for 1K of the others.
Not sure if this is a factor for you in terms of cost/qty.

--EDIT---
Actually you can order only 1K but it's a $5 charge I think based on this:
Bullets must be ordered in multiples of 2,000 (calibers and bullet types can be mixed and matched by the 1,000). If your bullet order totals an odd quantity, we do charge $5 (this charge will not be reflected in your shopping cart but will be charged when we process your order.)
That's not even close ... a quality jacketed for less than so:so accuracy plated ...
No one shooting Bullseye will use plated because, even if double-struck as per Berry's, they're just not very accurate.
Neither of course will do as well as Nosler JHPs or quality lead bullets, sized properly for the barrel.
