Best $300 rifle scope?

The new line of SS scopes from SWFA, The mil quad reticle is sweet!

they come in 6x 10x 12x 16x and 20x I have a 16x and really like it, I had a 20x and sold it, Was a little to much x for all around shooting, I would go with a 10-12 for out to 700 ish and 16x if you shoot out to 1000.

I now have there 3-15x44 ffp and its a sweet scope but that blows your budget. but they are pretty slick scopes

As not all think alike,I don`t agree with your assement. For me, lots of economy scopes say around $200 will do nicely. Never spent the kind of money your talking about ..ever.
If you want to pay what-ever for a scope, certainly you can do so. I just have a different take.

The Savage 10FCP like you are talking about is a great rifle for the money. In fact, money aside, it's a great rifle...period.
Don't insult it by "keeping" a cheap-*ss piece of junk scope on it. The rifle deserves better.

If it were "me," (since you are talking about TWO rifles here at the same time) I'd only buy ONE cheap scope and install it on ONE rifle. Then practice with that ONE rifle until you got really good with it. You can be saving up for a GREAT scope while you are practicing for a while.

Once you get a GREAT scope, then install it instead after you are already well-practiced with that rifle, and move the cheap scope to the other rifle and start the process all over again.

If you are wanting to get into competition...I'd not waste my money on TWO cheap scopes that you will ultimately want to replace down the road anyways. The money you spent on a second cheap scope could have gone towards a really good one instead.

I have an IOR Valdada scope on my 10FCP that I just love. But NightForce, US Optics, Swaro and a few others also make some seriously nice scopes as well for serious competition and are worth the time it takes to save up for one. If you are serious about being competitive, then patience is a virtue.

For me it would have to be a Nikon Bushmaster 6-18X40MM. Very good clarity, Mildot reticle if you want it, range finding ability on 12X, parallux adjustable and life time warranty. What is not to love? It has stood the test of time on my LR308 and still adjustments are very precise.

If it is, I have one on a .22 Hornet and like it a lot. Not as clear as higher dollar scopes, but very nice.

If the vx2 has the new finger adjustable knobs I would pass. Have you looked at Clearidge?

I have a couple of Nikon scopes that I like really well. But my choice for a scope in this category would blow up your budget by about $125. I wouldn't want anything less than a Weaver T series scope. More power is always better for target shooting IMO. I know a lot of people that will swear the bottom line for a true quality scope is the Weaver T series. The price is running around $425 depending on the color (silver or black). IMO they are better than Leupold scopes by a good margin. But they cost more than the Leupold VX2 too. Some people think a higher magnification scope will have more problems with mirage on a hot day but I don't have any issues with mine. Those people who wonder about mirage will often go with a T-24 instead. Those go for about $375.

A fixed magnification scope gives you several advantages like being less complex, lighter, wider field of view and lower price for the level of quality. There are a lot of good reason to go with a Weaver. I think it's the best mid-priced target scope going.

for what you want to do , I'd say go with a Shepherd V1A Stadia.

for what you want to spend , I'd say go with a Nikon

Burris FullField II also consider the Ballista Plex on that scope.
You will not regret it.
I have a Savage Model 11 iin.308 with the Burris Fullfield.
A Ruger 77 in .300 Win Mag with an older version of the Burris.
A M1A with a Burris FullField II BalisticPlex.
I also have a fixed 4 power Burris that needs a home on one of my rifles now and it may go on a new AR.
I have never had an issue with any Burris scope and in a couple of day will be recieving another in the mail for a Garand.

Happened to wander into the local Sportsman's Warehouse this afternoon, and they had the Burris Fullfield II 4.5-14X with standard duplex on sale for $199.99. That is the cheapest I have ever seen for that scope, which is pretty decent and even has an adjustable objective. For a long range shooter on a budget, I think it is a heck of a deal!

That Nikon Buckmaster looks great, and has a lifetime warranty. They clock in at around $280-300... very nice.

Edited, I found a Nikon Buckmaster 4.5x14x40 for $260 with free shipping! Awesome! Very excited!

I bought it, and some $40 weaver rings to mount it.

I'm going with one scope for now, and then gauge whether I need a better one or this one is good enough.

You picked a great scope for the money. Many others are better but not many for the same money. Ive been very happy with the clarity, tracking, and ability to hold zero. I've had nothing but good results. The turrets are amazingly crisp, not too stiff but not mushy at all.
