best 380 under 300$

Hi point and some ammo. Or a Ruger LCPII also don’t keep it in the truck. Take it inside. Or at the very least have a security box in the truck bolted down.

Ruger LCP, LCP II, and LCP Max can all be had for under $300 if you know where to look, i.e. online.

Some good suggestions so far.

In a .380 under $300 I'd be looking for something by Ruger: an LCP for $199, an LCP II going for $239, a Security-.380 at $299, and an LCP MAX for $319 ( a little bit over but worth the extra money). There's also the Walther CCP M2 for $299, the Bersa Thunder at $239.

Might want to look at the Taurus Spectrum.
I have not used an LCP Max, but I do have an original LCP. The Spectrum is much more comfortable to shoot for larger hands. I shoot much better with it as a result.

I checked out the LCP Max last week. It rattles when you shake it and it feels a bit flimsy.

The LCP types are made to be extremely concealable. They're kinda hard to shoot well and are for very close range.

A truck gun doesn't have to be that small. The Bersa is bigger and easier to shoot. It doesn't cost much and the consensus seems to be that they go bang when you want them to.

S&W and Ruger also make medium-sized 380's.

i suggest to avoid the bersa thunder and taurus spectrum.
thunder: bloody slide bite if you have meaty hands. soft metal, my decocker/safety lever sheared off after 20 range rounds. bersa made me buy the replacement part even though it’s a known problem on the bersa forum. handful to shoot.
spectrum: sharp uncaptured guide rod spring made reassembly after cleaning a bloody chore. galloway captured guide rod & spring made it a jam-o-matic.

i have a s&w shield ez. decent shooter. truly easy handling, loading, fieldstripping, shooting. not a fan of the upside down grip safety, but not a deal breaker. new is over $300.

i may not keep a s&w bodyguard. really long, indistinct & annoying trigger pull even for a revolver guy.

while this question is for 380acp semiauto pistols, i suggest either a $300ish taurus 856 steel 38sp snubbie revolver (my bedside piece) or a $180 hipoint 9mm c9 pistol (my cousin’s farm truck gun, even comes with a steel cabled lock box) for a rock bottom shooter.

Bersa Thunder fits the bill. Me personally, I wouldn't keep it in the truck.

Hi Points are butt ugly, heavy enough that a truck to haul them around helps, which seems appropriate, and just work. My kid bought a .380 one for sh*ts and giggles - we were both surprised at how well it ran.

I just picked up a LCP Max 75th Anniversary edition for $305. It has a stainless slide and an improved trigger over the standard offering.

I bought one in December and gave it to my d-n-l for Christmas. I fired a mag through it to check it for function. I like it.
We're going to shoot it more very soon.

Whatever you get, make sure it's the most unreliable gun on the market, like Cobra Arms or something, so when it's inevitably stolen, the thief has less of a chance of actually using it on someone
