Just wanting to get your opinions on a .45cal under $600....and for that matter under $500 as well. I dont have "fat wad" at the moment and although I dont want to get something that isnt reliable...I cant be picky!!!! Give me some ideas

G21 or used 1911. I picked up one used for $400. RIA 1911's and Taurus have been getting good reviews. I picked up my full size S&W 1911 used for $550. You have a few choices in that price range.

I just bought a Rock Island Armory 1911 for $445. Well after taxes and some ammo it was $510. So far I am impressed. I have had no problems but I have only put 170 rounds through it. They have a 5" and a 3.5" so you have different options. Plus the 3.5" is about $50 cheaper.

A guy in here posted that he just found a Kimber Custom II for $630, NIB. (That's what I paid for mine about 5 years ago.)

If it was me, I was broke, and I needed a good .45, I would look for a used G-21, and save the rest of the money for mags and ammo.

bersa .45 and its only 400 or less. your glock doesn't have a external safety or a decocker and neither does the 1911, also its DA/SA crisp as a fall morning in the mountains.

The FNP-45 should fit snugly under that pricepoint. I would take a good, hard look at it.

The STI Spartan goes for $594, which would ultimately put you over the $600 mark, but by all accounts, they are handsomely underpriced.

fter thousands or founds in Glocks and 1911s, never once have I ever missed a decocker.

have fun dry firing your gun my SA is crisper then your DA glock and you never missed a decocker because you never had one. most of the time i'm firing from SA the DA is sure safe unlike glock's that AD on you.

Rossshady...

1. 1911's DO have an external safety in addition to the grip safety.

2. What the heck are you talking about with
DA is sure safe unlike glock's that AD on you.
???

I carry a G27 or HK USP as my primary carry and have never had an issue with the Glock. If you follow the gun rules and are safe, you will never have a problem. (i.e., keep yer booger hookers off the boom boom button)

Also, with a trigger job (like I have on my Glock), the trigger pull is crisper and lighter in DA than stock. I'd argue that it's likely darn close to an SA.

I've carried Sigs, Berettas, H&Ks, and Rugers extensively. I KNOW what a decocker is. And NO I STILL DON'T MISS THEM. A dry fire only needs to be ....EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE LIVE FIRE PULL. "How it feels when it dry fires" has NEVER been on my list of criteria for buying a gun.

Ruger P345
XD-45 Compact
Glock 30
Taurus P145 Mil-Pro
Ruger P-97 (out of production but still out there. It can be found if you hunt for one)

I have personal experience with all of the above and each of them have worked perfectly for me.

I've always had good luck with Ruger's. My P90 and P97 have been very solid guns. I hear good things about the P345 as well.

Gun's don't "AD on you"... none of them.

+1 for the Ruger P90 they are a little big and only have 8rd mags, but they’re reliable, shoot like a laser, and you can get a new one well under $500 with tax. I also like Glocks, but have never shot one in .45.

If you can find a nice used Colt Government Model or Commander in your price range, I would go with that and get the original. My 2nd choice would be a used S&W 1911PD if you can find one for the right price. If not, I would vote for the Glock 30. It's a great gun....reliable, accurate, and concealable.
