Another vote for the Glock 19. Mine has gone through thousands of rounds without a failure. Light in weight, high capacity for it's size, and no sharp edges to annoy you when worn under clothing.
I like the Sig 239 alot but it has more edges, more weight, and holds fewer rounds.

The best, if you mean accurate, 9mm IMO is the Walther P88 fullsize. For CCW the P88C or P99 are better. The Walther P88C is the pistol I would choose if I had too, but the P99 would be a very close second.

Well, I have always thought something suppressed might be a good choice for a HDW. Can't do that here, so an unsuppressed Hi Power- a MKIII- with night sights, thin grips, stippled front & back straps, "pre ban" mags, and good ammo is my choice. This thing helps me look better than I am with bowling pins and those tiny steel plates.

I've been looking at Compact 9mms.

In the last two weeks I've rented and familiarity fired four.

So far, the best of four tried is the Glock 26.

The Ruger P-95 was too wide in the grip for my hand size and trigger reach. I limp wristed it.

The S&W 908 was a bit uncomfortable in the grip, and the ejected rounds hit me in the face.

The Taurus PT-111 Millenium (not pro) was second best.

The Glock was more accurate and the trigger pull was lighter and the travel was shorter.

Who thinks the mid-size Glock is next...I'd like to try a SIG-239.

No one best, imho. But, I do happen to like my G19, G26 and Kahr PM-9. Each serves it's purpose depending upon concealment requirements. Summer time, it is the Kahr PM9. When I can use cover garments, the G26 is my first choice.

"Best" is a subjective term.

"Best" 9mm to me is the HK P7M8, closely followed by the CZ-75, SIG P225/226, Glock 19, and Browning HP.

The G19 is stragely enough, a compromise gun without compromises!

Especially with medium-size hands like myself-I don't lose ANY shootability with the 'compact' G19.

15+1 Gold Dots, still light enough to forget about IWB with a good CCW belt.
