Best BANG for my buck (Optics)

I too am looking for a scope for my model 10. That's the first time I have seen that model scope. It's looks like a pretty good price though. Personally, I'm looking for a 4x-16x or close to it.

those are good scopes... the bushnell 3200 series

I just ordered a Vortex Crossfire 6-20x50.... its was 100 bucks at SWFA... it all depends on how much you wanna spend.

So many guys will say spend at least 300 on the scope but it just didn't fit into my budget on the gun. Vortex scopes on lower on price but still good quality and transferable lifetime warranty....

Might check out the Nitrex scopes at Natchez, they seem to get good reviews.

My personal experience is that best values are Vortex Viper and Burris Fullfield. You can often find really good model closeout deals at SWFA.

$289 for a 3200 Elite with mil-dot and AO is a pretty nice deal. And Bushnell's warranty/CS is outstanding. I would probably jump on that quick before it disappears.

I'm going to post all the details someday soon, but I got ripped off on Bushnell's 2010 Rainguard free jacket offer. I complied with the offer 100% and got a letter back saying I hadn't sent in the UPC and needed to do so - of course I couldn't do so because I had sent it in, and I have the scope box with a missing bottom to show for it. That experience has completely soured me on Bushnell.

Ive been looking for an optic for my Savage 10fp LE for awhile now. I had a bushnell elite 3200 10x40 mil dot on it but that got moved to my AR10. So ive been looking around for awhile and came across this one the other day

I will be useing the gun for target shooting, and hunting. What do you think?
bluerider,

i have a 10fp in .308 and have been considering throwing the 3200 elite 10x40 mildot on it because the scope is so cheap on closeout. i'm trying to decide if i should skip the elite and get the vortex viper that i really want, but the closeout sale at natchezss for $149 seems too good to pass up on the elite 10x40. for $149 it falls into the ''cheap to have'' category in my mind...

how was your experience with the elite 3200 10x40? what mount & rings did you have it on? i've got an EGW mount & will probably be getting Warne Maxima rings. Without the scope & rings in my possession i don't know if the low rings will work or if i need medium height.

thanks in advance!

Redfield! Made in Oregon along side leupold. Lifetime warranty. I have the 4-12x40. Love it!

I'm not sure what magnification you want, but if 3-9 is sufficient, cabellas is selling the elite 4200 3-9x40 for $199, I have one and love it. There was a thread like this a month or so ago, and I believe someone stated that the 3200s and 4200s were being sold off so cheap because they were being discontinued. Not sure about that though.

I've also heard good things regarding the Nikon team primos and the vortex Diamondback and viper series.

Best for the buck can mean a lot of things. You can make a good argument for a $400 Zeiss Conquest. You can buy good scopes for less, but $400 buys you a lot of scope with the Zeiss.

I wouldn't say anything bad about the new Redfield. It ain't near as good as the Zeiss, but at around $160 it is also a lot of scope for the money.

My personal favorites are Leupold. The glass isn't as good as the Zeiss, but they offer many other qualities that are very important to me in a hunting scope. Most of mine are either the VX3,s or the older Vari-X III's. if I needed to cut costs I could even live with a $300 VX-2.

gtscotty,

from what i've read about about the elite 3200's & 4200's recently, they've discontinued those 2 model lines & have combined them in to a single ''ELITE'' model line. there is still the 6500's however.

Another vote for the Nitrex scopes at Natchez. I own three and they are great for less than $200 after rebate.

My Mueller 3-10 TacII is also a great deal for ~$250.

I have two leopold vx-2 3x9`s, one on my ar-15 and one on my rem 700, bought them both for less than $200 each on auction arms, they were used but in great shape and a great deal, so look for used glass, you can get great deals out there.

I'd push them on this if I were you. They have a one year "no questions asked" return policy, send it back for a new one with the new UPC label.
If that doesn't work, I'll mail you mine, I just bought one and didn't want the raincoat even for the handling charge.
Try to make them eat a scope first.

The Mueller Eraticator is a great piece of glass for the money. On the large side, but crystal clear and holds zero consistently.

I have had great success with my Pentax scope on my stevens model 200 in .308.
It's hard for my to justify a high dollar scope on a low dollar gun, for hunting/ mucking around in the snow. I can shoot 2" groups with winchester super x at 200 yds ( that is the longest range in my area). The lifetime warranty kinda got me with this particular scope.

I'm a Leupy fan and have found a number of them used at great prices over the years. IMO, a great way to go, especially on a hunting rifle. Any issues, send them in.

Given the good reviews I've seen, picked up a used 5 - 15X Bushnell 3200 recently and shot with it last weekend. Have to say, it seems to be a good, solid scope for the money.

Best bang for the buck may be the CenterPoint 4~16x40 AO at WallyWorld for around $80. It's no Leuplold or Zeiss, but it's recoil proof, water proof and guaranteed. Been tested by TMan65 on some heavy recoil rifles and held up fine. For a real cheap scope, this is one that has worked out OK ;)

Nikon Prostaff scopes are cheap and nice, if you want a step up, you can go to the Buckmaster or Monarch and have a great scope, I also have experience with Nikko Stirling, mine works, it's clear enough, but I would change alot about it and I want to replace it on my Rem 700 Tactical with a Mil-Dot Buckmaster.

I have the Bushnell 10x mil-dot and it is nice, but the clarity and crispness of my 4.5-14 Mueller APT blows it away. I've been using Bushnell for everything for 25 years, but if all the Muellers are like mine I may never buy another one.

Burris Fullfeild II, a no BS quality scope under 400 $, lifetime warranty, with a company that's stateside, even though the scopes are assembled in the Phillipienes.

The 4.5X14 X 42 MM is very bright even when cranked to max X, has a easy to use ballistic plex reticle, compact compared to similar power scopes, and can usually be found in a package deal with another Burris optic, for the <400$ tag.

Nikon

For the money I like the Nikon Buckmaster scopes. They make a real nice 4.5-14x40 Buckmaster that goes for about $270. I'm thinking about putting one of these on my next build, which will be a 6mm Remington on a Yugo Mauser action.

The only optics I own are Leupold, binoculars, rifle scope, spotting scope, and range finder. They may not be the most economical, but they have a price to fit just about any budget and quality is uncomprimised. For the money, quality, and customer service, nobody does it better.
Whether it's a plinking day at the range, a serious competition shoot, or a once in a life time hunt, it has to be right and bright.
Leupold, when only the best will suffice!
