Best bang for the buck deal on .40 S&W pistol?

I agree with Seven For Sure. There's a local store in the Carolina's called Lawmens that's sells to LEO's, but will also sell to the public, and apparently they are selling M&P's right now to the public for the LEO discount prices. I believe $398.

I also agree with Hunt480. The Ruger SR40 is a nice gun, and especially for it's price. I have a buddy with one, and I prefer it's factory trigger, and sights to the OEM pieces on a Glock, and I love my Glock.

It depends a lot on what you prefer and what you want the pistol to do 'best'.

For those who like 'steel' guns, the CZ has both a full size great for the range or a couple of carry size that do well in a holster. Both are good buys for accuracy and reliability. Extra mags and numerous options are also reasonably priced.

If you like the poly pistols, Glock and M&P can be a good bang for the buck.

I think somebody said Glock 23. For just to be different, a Mini Firestar. Totally serious great little pistol.

Best bang for the buck deal on .40 S&W pistol?
What is the best bang for the buck deal on a .40S&W pistol that is reliable and decent? Don't say Hi Point or any Bryco junk stuff, but what are the best deals out there? Police trade-in Glocks? S&W 3rd generations, Rugers? Dare I say Sigma? Just a good reliable, goes bang every time .40 that won't break the bank. Share with me -- educate me.

What you'd said... The Glock 22 would come in first in my book with the Sigma a 2nd if you can deal with the heavy trigger. The 3rd Gen Smiths and the Rugers in 40S&W are fine guns but the capacity is on the low side for something chambered in 40S&W.

Summit Gunbroker has police trade-in S&W 99's for $295. Other than that probably a trade-in Glock 22.

The Sigma is a good gun IF you can get used to the heavy trigger. Personally that's just offputting to me so I personally have never taken the plunge on one of those (came close once when Buds had them for $249 after rebate - had the debit card pulled out but talked myself out of it). Still, if you can deal with that, they're not bad.

savage axis rifle, in .308 .243.,223,.7mm-08. these rifles can he had for around 300 $ brand new. the reports i have seen that they are very accurate out of the box with the 3x9 scope they come with. a very good bang for the buck. also the s&w sigma's 9mm or .40 cal.

I have a Taurus 740 Slim in .40S&W and have been very pleased with it. First off it's small and thin, easy to carry. Second is it's been faultless so far. I've shot over 500 rounds through it without a single problem. The gun's sights and accuracy is very good. The trigger is good too. It's a bit snappy with a bit of barrel flip but that's to be expected with a compacy .40. I've had no problem using it at the range shooting 50 rounds or so at a time. I know there are a lot of people who don't like Taurus guns but I've had several with no problems at all. I also have their 24/7 PRO .45 DS which is a little smaller overall than a 1911. The grip is slim even with the 12 round double stack magazine. A very pleasant pistol to shoot.

I've seen new "select" M&P's on sale lately for $399. I think they're 357sig's which is fine, new OEM M&P 40 barrels can be had for under $100. New dual caliber M&P for $450 including tax is pretty good IMO. The compact has a slightly longer barrel than a Glock 33 so i think it'd be a good platform for the round.

I have also seen M&P 9s and 40s. going for $399. IMO that is the best bang fir your buck if you can grab one at that price.

Best 40S&W value

EAA Tanfoglio without a doubt. It is a copy of a CZ 75. I bought a full size all steel (I don't like tupperguns) for $299.00 brand new! It is one of the most accurate guns I have shot straight out of the box. The other most accurate is the same gun in 9mm. Go on Gunbroker they are still available and the merchant will do a 60 day layaway. Hard deal to beat....good luck

I have one of the old Ruger P-series in .40 that came with 10 round magazines. I did manage to find some 11 round magazines used. I think that is what you are referring to but the new SR40 has a 15 round magazine capacity.

Take a close look at the Ruger SR 40 or SR9...

I just bought one for my grandson and liked it so much I had to get one for myself. I paid $399 and what a fine gun it is, Very accurate, excellent grip angle, sights and a very slick trigger. It is much better than my Glock.

I sold a g27 that i did not shoot any more or carry and picked up a new sigma sw40ve for 289 and changed the stricker spring and shortend the outer trigger spring and have a nice shooter with a 4 3/4lb trigger pull. Good buy for the money. I have a pile of 40 cal ammo so this is my house gun now.

If you are going to buy anything in .40, your best bet is a used Sig P229, or a used Glock. With either you can swap in a 357 Sig barrel. With a little bit more money and effort you can get a 9mm conversion barrel. Also both of these guns can be further modified to fire 22LR. You would only ever carry them in .40 or 357 Sig as the 9mm and .22 conversions are just for cheap practice, but these are truly versatile guns. Sig 229 certified pre owned is going to cost around what the Glock would cost new. If you have no interest in swapping calibers and only want a .40 then add CZ and CZ Clones to the list.

Yes, I was referring to the P-Series. Never understood why such a bulky pistol would only have 11 rounds.

On the SR40, it does appear to be a good choice, though I don't have experience with it.

Check Express Police Supply, they have some great deals on dept trade-in Glocks.

they do get those police trade-ins pretty regularly though, and at good prices

last i checked, they even offered a "zombie killer" glock with a cheesy zombie slide plate cover, and a $10 ebay laser lmao!

I do like my Glock 23 but I will admit it has taken me a few hundred rounds to get comfortable with the "different" recoil and also getting it back on target quickly. Even though when carrying concealed, I usually go with the 26, I no longer have any problems with the 23.

1 vote for a Tangfolio Witness Match.

Kerreckt hit upon most of the stuff about the Tangfolios, but the Match can be picked up for a few bucks over $500 and is super smooth.

Only downside is the potentially bad CS you may get from EAA.

I got a cop trade-in S&W 4006TSW and really like it, there are a lot of S&W 3rd Gen .40s out there at good prices, and i highly recommend them. As for new pistols iv thought about the Sigma in .40 my self. Also Glocks, Berettas, Sigs, H&Ks are all good bets and iv looked at them to.

I'd like to put in another vote for the beretta 96 inox police trade. I bought mine from buds within the past couple months and it came with trijicon sights too. Had a minor amount of holster wear but it looks like it was never shot after qualifying!

Depends on what your are looking for, but on one end of the spectrum there is the trade-in Glock 22s (which are the AK-47 of handguns) and on the other is the wealth of good deals to be found on 3rd Generation S&Ws: 4013 single-stacks, 4006 11-round service pistols and the Shorty 40 variations are all available for great prices right now if you hunt around. 3rd Gens are tough as nails, and usually just need a recoil spring replacement every few thousand rounds along with regular maintenance to keep them running 100%.

I, personally, have an M&P .40 with 250 flawless rounds through it, but I'm on the lookout for a 4006 as well.
