Best Deal Ever

Last year, I picked up a 12 gauge Remington 11-87 Police model with extended magazine tube for $380. The seller was highly motivated:D

My best deal was to trade a manual typewriter for a Ruger Redhawk 357, stainless with 7.5" barrel. That typewriter would be worth about 50 bucks today (if maintained). The Redhawk is mine forever. :D I've run into what I consider some good deals over the years, but nothing to match that.

Best Deal

I bought a Winchester Model 9410 new in Raton, New Mexico for $299 and sold it used a year later on Gunbroker for $900.
I had a great time skeet shooting with it too.
Ever try doubles with a lever action 410? It takes considerable practise.....hehe

I have found stuff left at the range. half a box of 44mag, stripper clips, spotting scop tripod, etc.

I have bought guns for less than $100.

Best deal though was a friend bought my lunch out of thanks for introducing and teaching him to shoot for the first time. In July he'll also be one of my groomsmen.

I bought a AC-41 P38 at a local gun shop for $400.00. Sold it that night on a WWII website for $1200.00.

A coworker was going to turn in two pistols (break-top .38 and Ortgies .25) he took from his aging father to the local sheriff for destruction.

He offered them to me and I took them. Don't remember how much, but best deal is two old guns saved from the crusher is priceless.

A good friend of mine had a Makarov pistol he traded to a guy for a new unfired AR-15

Funny story but essentially the guy (stationed in another state) kept his AR15 stored under his bed back in VA. Since he was never home, he decided it would be easier for him to just own a sidearm. My friend went over to his house with money in hand expecting to pay him whatever he wanted for his AR but to his disbelief that guy only wanted his Makarov. After asking him multiple times if he was sure and even offering the guy the Makarov AND money, he said "no that's alright, just the pistol".
So my friend picked up a new M&P AR15 for less than $100 (what he paid for the Makarov) and it even came with a case.

Got a mak off my brother in law for changing the breaks on his car when I was 15. it was quick confiscated but my dad as soon as he found out. Come to think of it I should get that back from him. But anyway 20 min of work for a quality piece with 2 mags can't beat it.

Plainfield M-1 carbine w/3 30 rd. loaded mags, and a S&W 629 with a Jackass shoulder rig, 100 rounds of ammo and 100 fired cases. $400 for the lot. Divorce sometimes makes a fella want to liquidate quickly.

Wow - what's up with that. Someone's trying to give you money and you say no. Only time I've done that was for a friend who I know needed it more than me. Good deal for sure though.

My great deal is I recently purchased a Kahr CW9 for 349.99 Brand new in box from my local gun shop. I'm still basking in the after glow of that deal.

don't remember what year of production but picked up a .357 ruger security six for $150 from a friend a few years ago and was offered $400 back in jan and just had to sell it....i'm not a big revolver guy.

I love pawn shops. If they have inept employees and they mismark things then great deals are sure to be had.

No 4 Mk 1- $212 out the door. Marked as Mosin-Nagant
Western Arms (made by Ithaca) double barrel 20 gauge- $245 OTD. Marked as Stoeger
Smith Model 60-7 for 225 OTD Marked as Taurus

I believe in making idiots who are in the gun business pay for their stupidity. Plus they turned me down for a job so I was making them pay for that too.

I've had guns given to me, and it's hard to beat that deal!! BUT, i'm going to say my best deal ever is my "go to gun", that i bought in the early 80's for $350.00,

It didn't look like it does now, as i rebuilt it to the gun i always dreamed of owning since i was a kid!

A couple come to mind:

Second-hand Ruger SP101 2.25" .357 for $250, about four years ago.
Second-hand Ruger SP101 4" .22LR for $300, about two years ago.
NIB Remington 541T at a an inventory reduction "scratch 'n dent" sale for $225 (still can't find the original scratch), about 10 years ago.

Was at my local Hobby store a couple of yrs back in da great U.P. of michigan.....
Was inquiring what they had on consignment....The owner grabbed a dogfood bag that had a muzzle brake sticking out of it, said here..the owner can not get it back together and said it was broke, so it's free right up your alley! Look into the bag, and see trigger group, bolt assembly couple of pins rolling around in the bag and a synthetic stock... Take the bag out to the truck where the wife was waiting on me, and asked what it was, I merely stated some kind of rifle.....

When I got home, I noticed it was an HK clone, till I started looking closer....Century CETME... Heard bad stories about them with cycling so figured that is why it was apart. Took me about 5 min to get it together....the previous owner did not realize you need to cock the bolt to loosen the rollers to reassemble where they had tried to beat the bolt back in because of some mushrooming on the back of the bolt carrier :banghead:

Well alittle work with a jewelers file and wet stoning cleaned it all up pretty. Went back to the gun shop and asked if the owner had magazines to go with it. Yupper, 2 Cetme mags.... Then she showed me a Long Long Gun, an 8mm Egyptian Hakim....she said make an offer. I said if the owner was willing to take $75 and had a mag, I would take it off of her hands. Well I getz home a few hrs latter get a phone call and the owner would take $75 for the Hakim and had the original Magazine....

Well for the way I see it, I got 2 $500 rifles for $75 dollars.....

Never happen to me again......Should have bought a lottery ticket that day as well....

When I lived in Denver, an acquittance of mine (friend of a friend) had a Beretta 21A .22lr Bobcat that he dropped on a concrete floor and dinged-up the barrel (definitely ugly but purely cosmetic). He was anal about all things concerning appearance (we have all met someone like this I am sure) so he was looking to unload it (pun intended) so I bought it off him for $75 (two years ago).

I used a permanent black marker on the ding, tested the weapon and it has been my BUG ever since).

Best deal for me ever on a gun.

-Cheers

NIB 6" Colt Python, OTD $325.00. A week later, my wife and I went in to get some ammo for a gun class we were going to attend. The guy behind the counter told me he thought there'd been a mistake the previous week, the price wasn't right on the one he'd sold me. The guy brought out a new catalog, showing me the new prices for this year, they'd been marked up $400.00, so he thought he had to make an adjustment on the price on mine! When I ask how long that Snake had laid on the shelf, he said about 6 months, I told him there wasn't any way my gun fell under the new pricing. And, I walked out without buying his ammo too!

Win 1300 Defender, minor cosmetic blemishes on the wood. Looked like it had never been fired. He was a friend of mine, recently married and his wife said no guns. Did a quick fix of their central air system (honestly maybe a half hour) and he offered me a deal. We both saved money.
$80

Rossi m68 for 90 and fie single shot 410 for 75. Sold the rossi after carrying it for years for 275 and the fie years later for 150.

A friend called me wanting to "get rid" of three guns, two had been his fathers and one a rifle the friend had bought 20 some years ago. I get to his place and found... an AC44 P38 his dad brought back from the war in very good condition with a P-08 holster and extra mag... a Colt 1909 Army that had been wrapped in an oily rag for the last 40 years again VERY good condition...and a sporterized 8mm mauser with 400 rnds of ammo. I asked how much for everything and he said he had paid $140 for the rifle so he wanted that back out of it. I asked again for everything and he thought for a minute and said "How about $250?" He said he knew they were probably worth more but he had no use for them and didn't want his kids to just sell them when he died and knew I'd take care of them and enjoy them. I never counted out five 50 dollar bills so fast in my life:):):)
