Best gun never made

I would like to see a pump action .45-70 in a Remington 870 or Mossberg 500 platform. Pump action because you could use lower power loads for home defense without misfeeds, and still be able to use full power loads for hunting.

I would also like to see Glock offer a .45 ACP in a Glock 19 sized frame. It could be either single or double stacked. I know that they offer one for the .45 GAP but unfortunately I do not think that caliber will ever catch on. I already own a Glock 19 and I love it. It is my favorite gun I have ever owned and would be my choice if I were only able to own one weapon for concealed carry and home defense.

This first one has already been mentioned, but:

.45acp version of the HK P7 (I believe it is the P7M7).....it never got beyond the limited edition prototype stage, but I would buy one if they were in production.

.45acp version of the HK P2000SK, a subcompact .45acp, something substantially smaller and more concealable than the HK USP45 Compact & HK45 Compact.

Everyone will recommend their own pride and joy. Just like everyone thinks their baby is the most beautiful.

The "best" guns out there are likely the ones adopted by high profile and large police and military organizations that really put these weapons to the test over long life-spans. Find out what they are, and you are probably fairly close to the mark.

The E-11 Blaster Rifle!

"The basic E-11 was 438 mm long when folded and weighed 2.6 kilograms. The power cell housing opened on the left side of the action housing, above the trigger, giving the E-11 a very low profile (useful when shooting prone or from a barricade). The E-11's plasma gas cartridges allowed for over 500 shots[1], while the power cells lasted for about 100 shots, depending on the setting.[1]"

Oh wait, they did make these! Only it was a long time ago and, uhh, far far away. :neener:

Back in the '80s I was working on an auto-draw, auto-holster mechanism for mini-Glock-sized pistols. Everything mounted on forearm bracers, gun drawn by tensioning and twisting steel cables, draw and return controlled by hand position (fingers cupped, thumb cocked fully back). Power systems ranged from self-winders, charged by any forearm movement, to battery packs.

Biggest problems were initiator signals and probable federal regulatory responses.

A few pallets of Frag-12 ammunition would make a 12-gauge 870 Express Super Magnum my dream gun. The only reason I choose that gun specifically is that it was the first shotgun I ever bought, and, admittedly, it is a tool for peasants, given how few barrels chambered for 3.5" shells Remington actually makes. Still, I'm fond of it for personal reasons, so...

Real:
1. Mateba Model 6 Unica "Autorevolver" in .454 Casull
2. SIG SAUER P226 Tactical: just a P226 with a threaded barrel. Unfortunately, it's only offered in 9mm.
3. Beretta 93R: machine pistol based on model 92
4. STEYR AUG A3
5. KS-23M: short variant of KS-23 (23mm shotgun) with detachable stock
6. CZ Skorpion 9x19: machine pistol

Dreamed:
1. SIG SAUER P220 Super Match (.45ACP) with the same style as the P226 X-SIX SCANDIC BLUE, from the SIG SAUER Mastershop Series.
2. LeMat-based centerfire revolver (.460 S&W Magnum or .500 S&W Magnum) with a rifled 16-gauge center barrel, and attachable shoulder stock
3. Calico carbine in .50 AE (I like Calico's helical magazines)

Utterly Fantastical:
1. Victor Fries's "Freeze Gun"
2. A "Bowcaster" or "Wookiee Crossbow"
3. A large-bore, low muzzle-velocity pepperbox revolver that fires tree frogs of the species Phyllobates terribilis.
4. A blunderbuss that fires the heads of Inland taipans (Oxyuranus microlepidotus) and Eastern brown snakes (Pseudonaja textilis).

Sorry, I thought it said "Best Gun EVER Made!"

I would love to see a Star BM made with a modern alloy or scandium frame and some nice sights. That would be a fantastic carry piece.

I think .22 long rifle version of the famed 1896 Mauser "Broomhandle" pistol would prove a fun plinker.

Timthinker

My dream gun would be a M&P 9mm compact designed from the ground up purely as a 9mm. That means the slide wouldn't be unnecessarily wide to accommodate the conversion to 40 cal. It would have less top end weight and would be slimmer. It would be the perfect carry gun.
